North Myrtle Beach is a small, chilled-out resort city set on the sun-flecked coast of South Carolina. The city is named for its vast sweeping stretches of pure sugary sands - an ideal holiday destination for a relaxing, lazy getaway full of shopping, dining, and sunbathing. But active outdoorsy-types will find plenty to do here as well, from casual golfing to thrilling water sports.

Things to see

Why not start your magical North Myrtle Beach morning by heading out across the warm, emerald waves off the South Carolina Coast. By the city’s beachfront, you’ll find a number of ocean adventure opportunities - from family-fun kayaking to deep-sea fishing and dolphin spotting. The adventurous can even take scuba diving lessons. If the great blue ocean doesn’t tempt you, however, you can always hang back on land and go on a tranquil horseback ride across the beach. As the afternoon rolls around, head up to Cherry Grove, a quieter stretch of pristine, white beachfront. Here, fishing enthusiasts can cast a line off the old-fashioned picture-perfect Cherry Grove pier. Alternatively, splurging shoppers can hop south to Myrtle Beach, and visit the immense Broadway at the Beach, a flashy mall full of kid-friendly activities - including a dazzling aquarium. In the evening, culture-fiends can catch a pantomime or musical at The Alabama Theatre.
