Hotels in San Antonio near Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center

Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center Introduction

Named after the late US congressman Henry Barbosa González, the Henry B. González Convention Center was built in 1968 and holds more than 300 events each year. In the main lobby there’s an interactive $1 million art installation called “Liquid Crystal.” The center is located in downtown San Antonio, on the banks of the famed River Walk. It’s in a beautiful setting within HemisFair Park, where you will also find the University of Texas San Antonio, the Tower of the Americas and the Lila Cockrell Theatre. The Alamodome sports facility is nearby on the other side of the I-37.

Hotels near Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center

Hotels near the center reflect their position close to the business and cultural hub of San Antonio. Many hotels were built specifically for the 1968 World's Fair, so naturally offer high capacity and business facilities. Most have destination restaurants and bars, and many offer views over the River Walk. San Antonio is very popular in the summer, so the best deals can be found from November to April. The main exception to this rule is when big conferences or exhibitions are in town, and as a result hotel rates shoot up.
