Most popular areas in Anaheim for 3-star hotels

With the loop-de-looping roller coasters on one side and the fairy-tale enchantments of Disneyland on the other, Anaheim is, unsurprisingly, laden with hotels of all shapes and sizes. Those in the 3-star category make up the bulk of the midrange options, and there are loads crowding the streets around the Disney Resort area. Others are south of that, closer to the business heart of the town and the Anaheim Convention Center. And then there are the places on the north-west corner of the city, dotting the streets near Buena Park.

Top 3-star hotels in Anaheim

With its hearty Californian country vibes and home-styled interiors, the adults-only Whisky B&B is a great choice for couples on a mature trip to this fun-loving corner of Los Angeles. Families are sure to prefer the Homewood Suites by Hilton. It's got adjoining suites, free cribs for the little ones, and is even within walking distance of Disneyland. And then there's the Ayres Hotel Orange. It sits right next to the Big A stadium, offering a swimming pool and fitness center close to the legendary ball park.

Where to find good quality restaurants in Anaheim

Disneyland is the obvious choice for dining between bouts of heart-thumping roller coaster riding. There's food to suit all tastes, from New Yorker corndogs to layered Swiss sandwiches, in the eateries lining the concourses between New Orleans Square – the heart of the resort. The area known as Little Arabia, where Brookhurst crosses Ball Road, is home to an array of hummus-laden, cinnamon-scented Middle Eastern eateries. And then there's the creative street food of the Packing District, which brims with grilled-cheese paninis, mixology bars, and fruit smoothie stands.

Fun things to do in Anaheim

Disneyland is not to be missed. It's the original Anaheim attraction, topped with the fairy-tale spires of the Sleeping Beauty Castle, gushing with log-flume bobsleds, and rattling with Wild West roller coasters. Knott's Berry Farm promises to keep the fun going. It's on the far north-west edge of Anaheim, where the city meets Buena Park, offering a whole medley of looping rides and a separate water park – perfect when the LA summer heat cranks up. A visit to the historic Packing District is a great way to get a taste of heritage, not to mention creative street food. It was once a factory depot that processed 1000s of oranges, but it's now laden with cocktail sellers and ice-cream merchants. Then there's the Angel Stadium, where big-name events and rocking music shows unfold in the evenings.

Best ways to get around Anaheim

There's a comprehensive shuttle network dedicated to transporting travelers around the Anaheim resort area. It's called, conveniently, Anaheim Resort Transportation, and runs regular circuits between Disneyland, the Angel Stadium, Knott's Berry Farm, and a whole host of other top-draw attractions in the city. Alternatively, the Orange County Transit Authority offers longer links to neighboring cities, with routes going up into the Anaheim Hills and across to Los Angeles – just in case you wanted to check off Hollywood and the beaches of Santa Monica.
