United Center Introduction

Home of the legendary Chicago Bulls National Basketball Association (NBA) team and the Chicago Blackhawks National Hockey League (NHL) squad, the United Center is the largest indoor sports arena in the U.S., and is known for its noise: its acoustics were designed to recreate the famous "Roar" of its predecessor, Chicago Stadium, and an Allen Organ is used during hockey season. This 20,000-seat stadium opened in 1994, and in addition to basketball and hockey, it hosts sports tournaments, wrestling matches, and concerts, including major acts ranging from Bruce Springsteen to Jay-Z. A number of local restaurants and bars are on-site.

Hotels near United Center

Most 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotels are in the Loop, the central business district east of I-90 and the Chicago River, and home to most of the city's attractions. A handful of midrange properties are within a few blocks of the arena, and offer spacious rooms, gyms, and parking. More affordable options are about 2 miles from the United Center, and farther from downtown. These usually have basic rooms with free breakfast and Wi-Fi. Chicago is busiest in summer, when the weather is balmy and festivals are in full swing. For the best deals, visit in winter, when temperatures drop.

North Side is another popular area, encompassing Lakeview and Lincoln Park. It's regarded as Chicago's entertainment district and features dozens of lively bars, hip restaurants, and performance venues. It's home to Wrigley Field, and attracts the more affluent and LGBT crowds.
