"It’s a great little hotel in a very quiet part of Kyoto. If you wish to get away from all the crowds and just experience how the locals live, this is a hotel for you. We had a room with a private onsen bath, which was just perfect at the end of all the sightseeing. Special thanks to the staff, who went above and beyond to make us feel very comfortable. "We had the most amazing time staying at Rakuro where the staff has been so welcoming, friendly and supportive! Lovely spacious room with great amenities, the en suite bathroom feels like a miniature sentō and spa! Great connections to public transport but you can also easily reach the city centre by a short walk. Couldn’t recommend staying at the hotel more!"

"Amazing quiet location. The room was large with two bedrooms (4 beds single and double in each room) A spacious seating area and a large separate bathroom with bath. The welcome drinks and icecream in the downstairs bar was a lovely bonus. The location was great with restaurants, supermarket, and Nijio Castle within walking distance. We hired bikes and explored the quaint streets, we would highly recommend this."

"The host is very welcoming and enthusiastic to share places around. This is a traditional Japanese style living on tatami and Japanese futon along with a shared public bath. You will have the best rest sleeping on those futon in this quiet neighborhood. 7-11, Daiso, coin laundry and buses to major attractions are all within 5min of walk. "

"This lovely hotel is located 2 blocks from a city bus line. There are a variety of small restaurants nearby. There is even a karaoke bar-Bar Dam-that was a blast to sing at with locals. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay and I would vacation here again."

"The Agora place is a no frills but relaxed hotel. There are amenities on the ground floor that are all you need. The room was a reasonable size and very clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. There is a large supermarket very close. The hotel is close to the Nijo castle and Imperial palace and an easy walk to bus stops and metro station with direct access to Kyoto station. My room was quiet but the hotel is situated on a busy noisy road."

"Loved it, felt like a real local. Washer was a plus and included detergent! Fast responses and overall a great stay :) 9.8/10 a little bit dusty specifically the top of air conditioner but hey, it’s an older place, it was expected and part of the vibe. Recommend if you want to stay in a more traditional place hence the name of the place. "
