Manila Luxury Hotels

From its colorful artsy neighborhoods, to its luxury shopping malls, and buzzing business districts, everywhere you look in Manila—the self-styled Pearl of the Orient—boasts a bright, shiny luster. In the Philippine capital, standing at the crossroads between Asia and the Americas, you can enjoy a heady mix of cultures, flavors, and styles, where European architectural influences sit next to exotic plant life.

Things to see in Manila

With its riot of districts and cultural influences, there's always something new and exciting to see in Manila. Its most iconic symbol, however, is its oldest—the Intramuros. These jumbled remnants of forts, churches, and foundations from the Spanish Imperial capital are more than 400-years old. More of the Philippines’ diverse history can be seen at the National Museum, just south of Intramuros. These days, cultural excellence ranks highly among the reasons to go to Manila. The Cultural Center of the Philippines is where you can enjoy Filipino arts at their best—from ballet and opera to folkloric dances and film. The spirit of old-time Manila can still be found in Binondo, the city's Chinatown district. Buddhist temples mix with Catholic churches, and some of the city's finest silversmiths can be found on its crowded streets, selling the most exquisite jewelry.

Luxury hotels in Manila

Beauty and opulence have long been part of Filipino culture, and many of the luxury hotels in Manila showcase just that—big, bold, and bright, boasting the latest facilities. Expect sumptuous décor, ample pool complexes and, of course, fantastic service. Cuisine is wonderfully diverse in this melting pot of a city. A hotel rooftop restaurant, gazing onto Manila Bay's famed sunset, may be the best way to savor those Filipino flavors. First-class business hotels here provide well-earned relaxation after a tiring day. Enjoy a relaxing massage, an invigorating spa session, or just a chill out in the bar of one of the top upscale hotels in Manila.

Where to stay in Manila

If you want great views, the bay-side half of the Ermita district is a good choice for a luxury Manila hotel. Here you're close to the Intramuros too, while if you head south along the coastal Roxas Boulevard, you can enjoy the artistic delights of the Cultural Center. There are bigger, more modern high-end hotels in Manila's upscale Makati City area. Fine restaurants, and some of Manila's premium shops and boutiques, are found here. Lastly, you can find some of Manila’s luxury hotels in Ortigas Center, to the west. This up-and-coming business district boasts parkland and the designer stores of the Greenhills Mall.

How to get to Manila

Fly in to Manila and you will land at the central Ninoy Aquino International Airport. This isn't far from the luxury hotel hot-spots of Ermita and Makita City. Most people who travel to Manila book a chauffeured transfer with their hotel to get to and from the airport. Travel around this large, busy city can be quite time-consuming. Taxis make sense for most destinations, although the local pedicabs can be fun if you aren’t in a rush, and hiring a calesa (a traditional horse-drawn carriage) is a classy way to tour the older parts of town.
