Hotel search

Disneyland® Resort is undeniably Anaheim's biggest claim to travel fame, but vacationers building an agenda around the sprawling theme park will quickly discover plenty of other must-see activities in the area. From frolicking in the surf at a local beach to examining the legacy of a U.S. President, Anaheim is packed with options for making your vacation unforgettable.

Disneyland® Resort

Walt Disney’s playground has been attracting visitors of all ages since it opened in 1955. Today, this expansive resort has 2 theme parks to choose from, separated by a wide, bustling promenade. The original Disneyland® Park features classic rides like the Matterhorn, Space Mountain, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. At Disney® California Adventure Park, you’ll find Pixar-themed lands and a mix of classic carnival and thrill rides. You can experience both parks at once if you buy a park-hopper ticket.

Knott's Berry Farm

Before there was Disneyland® Park, there was Knott's Berry Farm, located 7 miles northwest of downtown Anaheim, in Buena Park. The family-friendly theme park has expanded from its humble beginnings as a replica Old West town, and is now Orange County’s epicenter for modern roller coasters like GhostRider and Xcelerator. Thrills turn to chills in October when the park hosts its Halloween Haunt, where specially-designed mazes filled with scary ghouls and goblins await. From May to September, enjoy the assortment of slides and chutes at the adjacent Knott’s Soak City Water Park.

Orange County Beaches

Orange County’s clear skies and mild to warm temperatures make beach days possible year-round. The area's larger beaches feature lifeguards, showers, toilets, and beachfront stores and kiosks for sundries. Huntington State Beach is the OC beach scene at its apex, with a lively local vibe, white sands, and a 1,850-foot long pier. If you want a mellower experience, stop by Bolsa Chica State Beach, which has calmer waters and a scenic wetlands preserve.

Beer and Breweries

Beer is a big deal in Orange County, and Anaheim is leading the charge. Though most of the breweries in and around Anaheim have been open for less than a decade, places like Noble Ale Works and Bottle Logic Brewing draw regional beer aficionados with hoppy IPAs, rich creamy stouts, and lip-smacking sours. The breweries' tasting rooms are also terrific spots to enjoy a beer with Anaheim locals, especially when one of the region's pro sports teams are playing.

Centers of culture

Prefer some sophistication on your vacation? You’ll find several arts and culture centers within a 10-mile radius of downtown Anaheim. The city’s cultural scene is anchored by MUZEO, where new exhibits and programs exploring regional heritage go on display every 4 months. History buffs will enjoy the Richard Nixon Library & Museum, in Yorba Linda, 10 miles east of downtown. The grounds are home to a presidential helicopter, President Nixon’s birthplace and grave site, and an exhibit devoted to the infamous Watergate scandal.
