How To Get from Zurich Airport to Zurich City

Hotel search

Zürich airport is one of the main airports in Switzerland. Its small size makes it easy to navigate and it also has fast connections to Zürich city.
It takes just ten minutes from the airport to the city centre by train. The airport has information desks for arriving tourists in arrivals halls 1 and 2. The Airport Service Centre in the car park 2, on the first floor, offers tourist information.

By Train

Zürich airporthas its own train station, right under check-in zone 3. Follow the signs from arrivals; it is easy to find and you can take your trolley all the way down to the train station platforms. Trains to Zürich’s main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) run approximately every ten minutes during the peak hours and almost as often outside the peak hours. The trip takes just ten minutes. There are ticket booths and ticket machines at the station and the ticketing staff speaks excellent English (and several other languages). You can also get a direct train from the airport to several other Swiss destinations, including Geneva, Lausanne, Basel and Bern.

Taxis and Rental Cars

Taxis are located outside Arrivals 1 and 2. The trip to Zürich costs around CHF 60.00 depending on your final destination. If you have booked a rental car or are planning to hire a car, the rental car centre is located in the Airport Centre.

Buses and Coaches

The airport has a bus terminal for regional buses, but because the train services are so efficient it is much easier to use a train if you’re heading to the city centre. Many hotels in Zürich offer their guests a free shuttle bus service from the airport. Hotel coaches pick up guests from outside arrivals 1 and 2. During the ski season there are also coaches from the airport to the main ski resorts in the Alps.
