How to get to Munich Airport to Munich City
There are information services for arriving passengers in the Central Area (open 24 hours), in Terminal 1 and in Terminal 2. Arriving passengers can also make hotel reservations around the clock at the info desk in the Central Area, on Level 03.
The Lufthansa Airport Bus
The Lufthansa Airport Bus takes passengers from the airport to Munich’s city centre and stops at the main train station (Hauptbahnhof). From the railway station you can continue your journey by local or regional trains or by taxi. The trip from the airport to the city centre takes around 40 minutes and the adult fare for a one-way trip is 10,50 €. First buses start just after 6 am and last buses leave the airport before 22 pm. The Airport Bus picks up passengers from outside both airport terminals.
To the City by Train
The airport’s own train stop is a short walking distance away from both terminals 1 and 2. Trains (S-Bahn) leave towards Munich city centre every ten minutes on two different train lines. Train lines S1 and S8 both go to Munich’s main train station but take different routes.
Hotel Shuttle BusesSome hotels in Munich offer a shuttle bus service from the airport to the hotel and also a pick-up service from the hotel to the airport. Several hotels offer this service so check the details when booking your hotel room.
Taxis and Rental Cars
Several taxi companies operate in Munich. There are taxi stands outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and also in the Central Area on Level E03. The journey to the city centre takes approximately 45 minutes. If you are planning to rent a car in Munich, international car rental companies with desks at the airport include Avis, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt.
