I thought that this hotel was very good value for money, in an excellent location. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, the beds were good quality. The bathroom was tiny but adequate. We ate in the bar/restaurant one night and the food was very good if a little expensive for bar food. We ate in nearby TGI Fridays from that on in for half the price.”
Enjoyable. I would go back. Service was friendly. Continental breakfast was good with a variety of choices. Rooms and bathroom were clean. I did not know going in that there is a dog. I enjoy dogs and don't have any allergies so this was a nice surprise but this should be mentioned in the description of the B&B when booking.”
Got a really good rate on this hotel. Found the staff very welcoming and friendly and full of advice. Location was great for me as was arriving into Union Station so a five minute walk from there to the hotel. Room was lovely and if I could have taken the bed home with me I would have - so comfortable, bathroom was perhaps a little small for some but fine for me. Would definitely stay again, particularly if I got the same rate again.”
From walking into the the spectacular marble and chandelier lobby to the ornate surroundings, to walking into your room for the first time, was a wonderful experience. The comfort of the bed, to the room size - you truly feel as if you are at home. The shower head was a littlel messed up, but we survived. The one thing hotel.com will not inform you of is that if you drive, there is a $37.50 per day parking fee. We booked our hotel off the internet and thought we were getting an excellent deal - until the parking fee was expressed to us upon check-in. Also, there is a $9.99 per day Wi-Fi connection. Ask questions before you book, such as parking fee, continental breakfast, Wi-Fi connection. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance (by DuPont Circle) - and if we, at ages 54 and 57 can walk this strip, one much younger would have no probelm at all in the summer heat! The only part of the experience we did not care for was the DC driving and the need to take a cab to all the touring sites, but we must say that the cost for a cab for 2 from the hotel to the Smithsonian sites and Arlington National Cemetery were anywhere from $10.50 to $13.25 before tip, which was worth every bit to relieve the "driving" anxiety you will experience in DC. It is truly a driving nightmare. Tip of the day: TAKE A CAB - do not even try to drive if you have never driven in the autoban :) The streets change name in the middle of the block, along with the roundabouts (the Garmin becomes very confused) and extra lanes for bicycles - which by the way, have the right-of-way - and heaven help you if you should leave a 1/2 car length inbetween you and the car in front of you! So as you can see, a cab ride is a must unless you have EXCELLENT car insurance.”
Gorgeous hotel. Super comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean and everything you could want in a guest room. Plenty of staff to help with planning a day or a trip or directions. It is a bit of a distance from the main sight-seeing attractions if you don't like walking-about 30 mins walk to these but it's a beautiful walk! Situated in a lovely neighbourhood- feels very safe and taxis available on-site, reasonably priced.”
Good location within walking distance of Metro and Georgetown. Loved the area with its choice of quality as well as budget restaurants. The lobby and breakfast area is modern and has excellent touch-screen and print tourist/visitor info service.”
Stayed at the hotel with couple of friends on a weekend in DC. The hotel is within walking distance from National mall and having a free parking is a Great plus. Service was very quick and courteous, they provided us with a rollaway bed to accommodate 3 persons in the room. The room: beds, floor & bathroom was clean. The walls were recently painted. Electricity might have needed some maintenance, as one of the lights didn't work, but can't complain with the price :) The room had an excellent river view, and we enjoyed it a LOT for the time we stayed in it :) I would highly recommend this to visitors looking for a clean cheap convenient option.”
This hotel was very good value and located in central washington. It runs free shuttles (every 30min from 8-10am) every morning to Capitol / Washington monument which is 5min away by shuttle. A Taxi would cost you $10. Capitol, Washington Monument, Smithsonian, Lincoln Memorial and White House are all within 20min walk of each other. The main downside of the hotel was that the walls were thin so you occasionally could hear people shouting in other rooms, but this only happened 1 out of my 3 nights. The rooms were comfortable with flat screen cable TV with a great view of Capitol Building. There is a free Gym and free Internet terminals so overall a great hotel if you want a base to explore washington.”
The great thing about Holiday Inn Hotels is that they do what they say on the tin. Everything worked from the free WiFi to the kettle and I could not have asked for more at the price. very helpful staff were a bonus.”
Very nice, clean. Great neighbourhood. Close to subway station. Very good breakfast with made to order food included. Managers special everyday incl beer and cocktails. Some construction going on but wont notice”
This motel is good enough for us to save money and to stay close to the must-see sights. Room space is a little bit small. You can watch TV only few channels. Parking space for a car is too small - you may unable to open the door when you park beside the other car. The motel should set up limit time for a guest to use internet at the lobby - I could not use in the night or even in the morning due to somebody, same person, was using it.”
The price was right. The staff were charming. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. No Golf Channel on the TV but you can't have everything, I suppose. There's a Subway on site should you get the munchies. It was handy enough for downtown Washington (we had a car but there seemed to be no shortage of bus stops outside the hotel and the Metro runs to Crystal Springs, which has a nice, lively city center). Overall, remarkably good value.”
