The Grand Gateway was a very good choice for us. We stayed for five nights for the Sturgis Rally. It is about 30 miles from Sturgis but is close to many attractions in the area. The staff were so friendly and fun, we enjoyed Prime Rib in the lounge, they had entertainment, swimming pool, hot tub, exercise room, pool tables, lounge. The Hotel is connected to a restaurant that was always busy, good food and wonderful service. The Grand Gateway is easy to find and close to all services. We really enjoyed our time and would stay again. Rapid City is fun and South Dakota is amazing.”
Lovely place to stay close to interstate so handy to get out and about. they have 2 computers for use by guests at no cost!!!. Breakfast a bit boring after a few days but started the day off and don't really choose a hotel for its breakfasts. Staff very helpful.”

Very nice clean hotel. Everyone was nice, from the front desk to the breakfast attendants. The pool was super warm and the food was great. They had real choices, not just cereal and waffles like most hotels. The room was large and had dishes, big fridge and freezer, micro, stove and all the utensils. I would stay here again.”
We stayed here while dropping our daughter off at college. Our stay was two nights. The staff was very friendly and eager to help in any way. Cookies greeted us at the front desk when we arrived. The breakfast had everything we could ask for, and the pancakes were great! The room was very, very clean and smelled so good. Easy to find location with plenty of parking. Thumbs up!”
Overall excellent hotel. The only complaint I have is no electrical outlets in an easy access location for charging cell phones or laptops. All were near the floor and underneath a piece of furniture. This is difficult for anyone, but moreso for those of us with bad knees or older folks.”
The rooms were so nice and comfortable and the continental breakfast was amazing! It was better than anywhere I would have *paid* for breakfast. I have absolutely no complaints. Our stay was one of the most enjoyable.”
Very clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast had cereal, eggs, sausage, pancakes, rolls, muffins, milk, juice... etc. Pool has a slide. Has an arcade and exercise room. Pizza Ranch, Subway and Dairy Queen all within walking distance. Would go there again.”
My family enjoyed this hotel. The location had easy access to Highway 90 as well as Spearfish. We had good places to eat nearby. Spearfish is a beautiful town and we had a great time at the "Friday Night Lights" on Main Street. The swimming pool was great for a good swim, but the fitness room was very small and had a terrible odor.”
We're happy with this hotel - we requested a quiet room on a higher floor and we were given one. Staff desk was nice & friendly. The only item I like to comment on is that the room description provided by hotels.com, (room with kitchenette, microwave) did not align with the room that was assigned to us. The staff desk advised us that the description relates to a suite room and have been asking hotels.com to fix the inconsistencies for quite sometime but it remains an issue. She was happy to give us a suite but there's none available. However, she offered us to use their microwave and fridge if we like. This issue did not worry us as we were generally happy with our room.”
We enjoyed out stay in SD, and this hotel is about what you'd expect for the price. Clean room, about 10 minutes away from Mt. Rushmore, nice pool and hot tub. A few things that bothered me: only once ice machine, at most hotels I've stayed at there is one on each floor. The night before we left, it broke and we were left with warm drinks that night and the next morning. Parking is also a hassle as it seems there are more rooms than parking spots, which is never a good combination. All in all, I would say we enjoyed our stay for the price we paid and would stay again, but I would hope the few minor annoyances would get resolved by that time.”
Absolutely wonderful. Location was just what we were looking for - restful "away from it all" - surrounded by beautiful scenery. Hosts were welcoming and breakfasts were delicious. Our room had a jacuzzi and TV. Note: no cell phone or wi-fi in the area. Had to drive about 6 miles for cell phone service, and into Hiil City for wi-fi.”
