This is a great Hotel !!! Beds are very comfortable, Rooms are clean. The pool and hot tub area are well maintained and clean. The hot breakfast was good. My only disappointment was behind the TV cabinet was dusty and full of cobwebs. I look forward to staying here again!”
Overall we were very pleased with our stay...the staff were great and very helpful!! Rooms were very basic but we were still comfortable. We missed having a fridge in our room but we survived :) Location in Downtown Des Moines is excellent especially for the rate we got!”
Our rooms were clean as was the hotel. Breakfast not alot of choices but fine for the price of the stay. Clean quiet little town but hotel located close to places to eat and shop. First room the air didnt work but went to the front desk and was changed to new room without any fuss.”
Enjoyed our stay at Hotel Vetro. I saw on the hotel info that the hotel room came with a kitchenette, so we stopped and picked up a few groceries to have for breakfast. When we got in the room, we discovered that there was no silverware, plates, or kitchen towels. I saw a little card that read call front desk for a 'kitchen box'. They delivered a plastic storage bin with plates, bowls, pots, glasses, etc all thrown inside and not very clean. That was the disappointing part of this hotel stay. My suggestion is if you are worried about theft-either charge a fee or use paper and plastic!”
Fun hotel we walked to the game and had a blast. Rooms just average like a super 8...very thin walls the neighbors started banging on them as we were apparently to loud during some Late night romantic time.”
The room was okay, nice sized and the bed was really comfortable but we paid way too much. Especially since it wasn't really close to anything. The room looked like it had not been updated in at least 15 years, minus the TV. I don't think we'll be staying there again.”
We checked into this hotel at around 11:30p after a 7 hour drive and the man who checked us in was only interested in talking to the man checking in front of me...completely ignoring the woman he was with who was the one PAYING! And then was extremely snippy with me when it was my turn. the rest of the staff was very pleasant and courteous. But if you are a woman checking in late at night...expect a jerk to check you in. The Casinos were super close but I was in Council Bluffs for business and the hotel seemed really out of the way to get into downtown. However, super easy to get on the highway and over to Omaha. The rooms were clean a fairly well maintained. I didn't go into the pool area, but it looked clean through the window and lots of families used it and the hot tub.”
very good stay, quite, convenient of in house restaurants a real plus. I'm a none smoker so the smoke from the casino was horrid. The room was clean but the tub drained very slowly when showering. Staff very helpful. Got an extra day on hotels.com even when the hotel didnt show availability.”
First-time visitor to Council Bluffs and Omaha and needed to find decent budget accomodation. This motel fitted the bill and overall I was satisfied. The free breakfast (reasonable continental offerings) was suitably filling and healthy, free hotdogs in the evenings was a bonus (although I didn't have the appetite), friendly staff and free fast Wi-Fi (coverage reception may vary depending on room location) made for a value-packed place to stay. Only shortcomings were the noisy and ineffective air conditioner, lack of fly screen on the windows (lets bugs in at night), and the very lumpy pillows and worn sheets.”
Very clean and pleasant stay. This is the second time have stayed here and will do so again. Good bargain for the price. Check your room early if you think you may need extra amenities so you can pick up the extras, i.e. hair dryer, extra coffee packet for the morning. There is no room service for this type of request.”
the hotel completely exceeded my expectations. the room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. it was very nice having a full size refrigerator in my room with a full kitchen available if needed. we enjoyed our stay so much we canceled our other hotel so that we can stay here for the full time on our next trip.”
If you are planning to be in West Des Moines you'd do well to consider this hotel. staff is friendly and courteous. You definitely feel pampered. They treat my kids like royalty! Room was well cared for and very comfortable. Lastly, the "Johnny's Italian Steakhouse" is, while pricey, and excellent upscale restaurant with excellent service and fantastic cuisine. Well worth the cost!”
