Generally a very good choice if you want to lie by the infinity pool and enjoy a bit of R&R. My only real niggle is that some of the bar staff on occasion do not give first priority to serving the guests. Whilst I am sure polishing glasses and moving stock around is vitally important, it is not AS important as serving the customers. Better management in this direction would help!”
There are two things that they don't tell you when one is entertaining travelling to Salvador i) the climate can make the rooms in the hotels, even 5 star hotels, damp and smelly and ii) don't walk around on the streets - you'll get mugged. The Othon was a delightful respite from problem i). Problem ii) will take a lot more effort to sort out, but even now Salvador as a destination is still worth the risk.”
Very nice hotel, a bit from the airport and the center of Salvador. I honestly didn't care though. It was not really any good beaches around, there were some small with chairs and unmbrellas to rent, however the hotel pool was good. I would say the hotel got so good for us because of the staff there. They were extremly helpful and always went over what they were expected to do. It was some places in the close by to eat at but not too much of a choise. However if you took a cab for maybe 15 min you could get into the center and to Bahia Marina pretty comfortly.”
The hotel is well maintained with a friendly staff, many of them speaking English. It is close to the beach and with the bus it is easy to go to downtown Recife, Olinda, Porto de Galinahs or to the part of Boa Viagem where the action is. In any case not being in the center of Boa Viagem is the only drawback we found, but the rates for a quite room (partial ocean view) were so much better than what others had to offer.”
I liked the location, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was great. Lots Of things to do in a walking distance.”
