This is the second stay at this hotel, the staff are first rate and very cheerful and helpful. I will be back next year any for any stay in Palermo. My only suggestion is that the hotel should have at least one English speaking TV channel and that more food is on hand in the evenings.”
This is a beautiful hotel, converted from a previous Palazzo. The location is very Palermo (ie dirty, massive amount of traffic, dusty, noisy) but this is all left behind when you enter the hotel. Incredibly high ceilings, chandeliers, gorgeous mirrored walls, glass ceilings - it's got it all. It *is* however right in the middle of a very dirty, busy (alive!) city. So be warned. You may need to rinse those sandals when your return. I cannot fault the staff - attentive, helpful, knowledgable. Loved it.”
Modern hotel very conveniently located in town centre. Airport bus stop at Politeama Square is only a few minutes walk from the hotel – much more convenient than the bus terminal next to the Stazione Centrale. The hotel is comfortable and is used by tours. The Reception staff are welcoming, helpful and speak English. The buffet breakfast is perfectly adequate with juices, rolls, toast-making machine, croissants, cheese, cold meat, jams etc but there are no hot items. Espressos and cappuccini are ordered. The breakfast room can be noisy at times.”
The Etna is further from the center of Giarre than I had expected. Driving is difficult because of the heavy traffic and very very narrow streets. The hotel itself was comfortable and good. It's an older hotel that has been carefully and completely modernized. However its restaurant cannot be recommended. I think most of the ingredients used in the preparation of meals were either frozen or canned, nothing seemed to be very special.”
This hotel is located in the old fishing town of Riposto on the east coast of Sicily. It was not a primary spot for us to stay but served as a great base from which to day trip to Catania, Siracusa, Taormina and Noto. Be sure to go to Noto. The hotel is modern, clean, bright with friendly helpful receptionists. Breakfast was limited but fine. This place is one block from the water which allows for pleasant strolls along the waterfront. This is a rather expansive hotel with a great pool and caters to tour groups as well as casual customers.”
We stayed at this hotel in the beginning of February, i.e low season, despite the St Agata festival, so very few guests. The hotel personnel was very friendly and helpful and we got all the service we wanted. They all spoke English rather well. The breakfast buffet was very good with nice and efficient personnel. The restaurant at the top looked very good and was OK but rather expensive for the food served. The room was nicely furnished, the bathroom elegant, more generous in size compared to the room. The bed was much too hard. The room faced the yard so it was very quite. We enjoyed the stay and would consider it again if we need an hotel in Catania.”
My boyfriend and I spent 10 nights in this hotel, it was perfect for couples or families looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful, especially Attila who works at reception. It was a bit far from the centre but you could walk there in about 25 minutes which was fine, although it got a bit tedious in the end. Breakfast had everything you needed but was not amazing. The pool was great and rarely crowded. Although I probably wouldn't have rated this quite as a 4 star hotel it was very pleasant and we would stay there again if we were to go back to siracuse”
We spent two days early October 2010 in this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it . Because of the rural position use of a car is absolutely essential. They serve a lovely breakfast in the morning, however we only used the restaurant once as it was a bit over-priced. We found a really nice , well-priced pizzeria/ristorante closeby for dinner which was great. On the plus side everything else about the Kalaonda is excellent ; the staff are extremely friendly , polite and keen to help, despite the language barrier. We would definitely go back to this lovely place again.”
This was a great hotel, good service, extremely clean and only a short bike ride to the nice beaches and the main town. The only drawback is the all-day entertainment. It can start quite early and finish quite late, we were out exploring the island most of the time but if it's peace you are after mabe this place isn't for you!!! I still highly recommend it to those who don't mind a bit of clowning around by a few fools at the pool!”
