I stayed at this hotel in the beginning of April 2012. It has a perfect location. Besides, room was big and good, service and quality was also fine. Everything about hotel and service was very good except the pillows. There should be more pillow available (maybe there were but we didn't ask) to use because existing ones are very weak. I strongly recommend this hotel for travelers to Madrid, especially if you are there for 3-4 days and you want be close to everything in the city. Location is perfect, Porte de Sol on left side and Gran via on the right, and crossing street, El Corte Ingles, Fnac etc next to hotel, as well very good shopping and tourist gathering areas.”
Great room, good breakfast and wonderfully helpful staff. Was also a short walk to the main shopping district, the botanical gardens and most of the notable plazas and monuments. Only down side for us was the distance to the train station, but was only €12 for a cab anyway. All in all...highly recommended for a very realistic price.”
A very efficiently run hotel with friendly, helpful staff..Beside Callao metro station. close to a stop for the "hop on hop off " bus and just a short walk to Sol and Plaza Mayor. We asked for a room looking out on Gran Via with a balcony. The double glazing shut out any street noise at night time. We had a view over the rooftops and a little balcony. Breakfast between 7 and 11 am is self service and has a very good selection. There was free wifi iinternet and also a printer in the spacious lounge area upstairs.”
Although the rooms are comfortable there is something lacking in the communal areas. The minuscule bar area, right in the entrance lobby, seems to actively discourage guests to hang around in the hotel and socialise yet the immediate neighbourhood offers very little in compensation; even the chic "Silk" closed at 10pm. Good luck, at that point, finding a decent restaurant - your only option will be to return to the hotel to find that even that closes at 11pm. Overall impressions are that this is a hotel at which you're better off working in your room (with the free wifi) and grabbing some room service before retiring early... unless you've got transport and are willing to venture closer to the city for your entertainment.”
We liked the hotel a lot. It was clean, modern, nice service personnel. Rate was acceptable. Location is BAD for anything but an overnight stay before a flight -- nothing really around the area as far as bars/restaurants/sites, but easy to get to airport. Was NOT happy about the wifi charge and lack of free wifi even in the reception areas, and they charged for accessing internet via the lobby computer. This is very unusual -- most places we visited had free wifi in the room or in the public areas at the very least. Was disappointed in the number of channels available on the TV -- only 1 english language channel, which repeated information every couple of hours.”
I thought it was fine if the only thing you wanted to see was the hotel. You pretty much had to take a taxi everywhere, it wasn't close to anything, and finding it was very hard, because none of the locals knew where it was even though it is very big. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are nice. Only downside is location”
The staff could not do enough to make our stay comfortable, they were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful - clean, spacious and modern. The room was lovely and the bathroom an absolute dream. The only downside was that despite the gorgeous weather, the pool had been drained and the rooftop bar closed.”
