It is a Massive building easy to find on the outskirts of Boltaña. The map implies that it is in the mountains, but in fact it is alongside the river & road into the town. The interior is decorated with modern & tribal works of art which is a bit quirky. GOOD: The architecture is amazing. We slept in the separate villas. – The bed was massive. There was a separate sitting room. Breakfasts were included in our tariff & were very good. All in all it represented outstanding value for the price we paid. BAD: We ate in the restaurant on our first night. The room is very interesting, with a vaulted ceiling, & lots of money spent on the interior design. Unfortunately, although the barman told us it opened at 8:00pm, it did not actually open until 9:00pm. It took ages to place our order, & then the food arrived in a rush. – From beginning our meal to leaving was barely 30 minutes. The chicken in pastry was no better than one can buy at Asda for much less than the 28€ we paid. - Avoid the restaurant. It appears to be set-up to cater for groups. We stuggled with information. The only signs in English were the ones forbidding you to do things. One of the receptionists spoke no English, & was therefore unable to provide us with answers to our requests for tourist information. There was no tourist information on display.”
The only problem with the hotel was the fact that no English was spoken. Why do we not learn to speak Spanish? Restaurant excellent.”
The hotel is behind the facade of a monastery. The room was comfortable without being luxurious and had a juliette balcony. It is in a good position for exploring the town. Breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff very helpful.”
Hotel of age, Classical style, well maintained, and well operated”
