The hotel was beautiful . It was nice, that because of low season ,to be upgraded for free. A lovely bonus. The pools are very nice. Everything was very clean . The bed so comfortable. The food was all excellent. Even though our stay had to be brief it was a lovely experience.”
Other than they had a problem with the machine that "makes" the room keys and we had to call somebody of the staff to open our room eeeeeeeevery time we got there, the hotel is kept in good condition, clean, the location is good if you want to hit the "party time" section of the hotel area, not far from downtown Cancun. Good value for the money.”
We went with our 2 year old and had a great time. The hotel was great, well maintained. The service was outstanding everywhere, from beach service to room service to concierge. Really liked the attitude of everyone. Very friendly. Also hotel is located in a good location. Really nice beach...”
Secrets Maroma is a fantastic resort. It has everything you could hope for. A great place to relax and unwind but also having plenty of entertaining things to do. The staff are friendly, courteous and very hard working, particularly the Entertainment Staff who do a wonderful job!”
This is hands down the best hotel I have ever stayed at! (and I have done my share of travelling). The resort is beautiful and the food AMAZING but the service and the people are the definate stand out here. The staff are so dedicated to ensure your stay is perfect, from the waiters to the barman to the spa staff to the cleaning staff every person was lovely and made the stay fanatastic. Rooms are beautiful and very luxurious! Resort is so close to the town that you get a taste of teh heart of playa del carmen..... I cant say enough great things about my stay it was the highlight of my trip!”
My wife and I stayed in a Penthouse Suite in the Select Club Adults only Section of the resort. The Suite is massive but very institutional. There are no colors or artwork on the walls which made it feel very cell like. The jacuzzi on the large deck did not work the first night. They tried to fix it but it never worked properly. The Resort is MAGNIFICENT!!! It is very beautiful and well laid out. The food in the buffet and drinks are great. The beach is very nice. Unfortunately the swimming is terrible. The ocean bed is covered in very large rocks and is very shallow. There is a large water break that is in front of the swimming area that the life guards won't let you go over to swim on the other side. Overall I would Recommend this resort if ocean swimming or snorkelling is not a requirement.”
Great choice in TUlum cause you can go to a few great beaches with a few minutes drive - THe hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly - They cant wait to serve you some nice Margheritas but ask for the natural one!”
We booked this hotel at an excellent rate and were not disappointed at the high quality of the resort. Yes, the Coba is a bit further from the beach (about a 10 minute walk). The rooms were very spacious and having a sofa converted to a bed was a big bonus for us and our two teenagers. The bathrooms were large and very clean. Just wished it had a exhaust fan. The food at the buffets was excellent and there was much variety to choose from. If you want a high quality large resort - choose this one. Tips - rent a car to visit the ruins, cenotes and Akumal beach on your own - all wonderful excurisions!”

We loved staying at Na Balam. It was exactly what we were looking for... The beach is beautiful and very relaxing. From our estimation, this was the best hotel on the North Beach. We prefer smaller, more boutique-style hotels, so this fit the bill. The other hotels along the beach are much larger and much more crowded/loud. And they didn't look as "nice." Their new restaurant "Fenix" is just beautiful!! The proximity to town is great--just a short walk. The rooms were what we expected--nothing special. We stayed in a beach-view room and we were very glad we did that. It is definitely worth the upgraded price. Since we didn't expect a luxurious room, we weren't disappointed. The rooms are very basic. The service at breakfast was very slow...very slow...but since breakfast is on the beach, with a beautiful view and we were on vacation, we didn't particularly mind. Also, this is an island in Mexico...so we didn't expect to have the speedy service one is accustomed to in the U.S. And this suited us just fine. The scuba/snorkeling company that is set up at Na Balam is great! Don't book with anyone else, even if you can find slightly cheaper rates in town. The guides are great and it's very convenient to be able to walk out of our hotel room and get on the boat and go. So, overall, we absolutely loved, loved Na Balam. If we stay on Playa Norte again, we will definitely book with Na Balam.”
Best beach property location in Mexico. Not over crowded and you can snorkel right off the beach in warm clear water. Hotel is fairly basic but is clean and the staff are great. If you are looking for fancy this hotel is not for you but if you want a great location on a beautiful island with friendly and attentive staff I would recommend this hotel. Short walk to North Beach and the downtown "strip" for fabulous meals and entertainment.”
We were bumped up to an apartment as we were staying for 5 days. It was palatial! The hotel itself is in a great location near the ferry and on the best beach (north). It's also a stones throw from the town which is a little gem, with lots of small craft stores, restaurants and cafes....We didn't use the pool which looked very nice, as the beach was lovely! The massage in the hotel was expensive and not great and breakfast sometimes was a bit scattered service wise but really good otherwise, lots of fresh fruit, omelettes breads cheeses smoked salmon.....yum! .....Stay here!”
