We loved staying at Na Balam. It was exactly what we were looking for... The beach is beautiful and very relaxing. From our estimation, this was the best hotel on the North Beach. We prefer smaller, more boutique-style hotels, so this fit the bill. The other hotels along the beach are much larger and much more crowded/loud. And they didn't look as "nice." Their new restaurant "Fenix" is just beautiful!! The proximity to town is great--just a short walk. The rooms were what we expected--nothing special. We stayed in a beach-view room and we were very glad we did that. It is definitely worth the upgraded price. Since we didn't expect a luxurious room, we weren't disappointed. The rooms are very basic. The service at breakfast was very slow...very slow...but since breakfast is on the beach, with a beautiful view and we were on vacation, we didn't particularly mind. Also, this is an island in Mexico...so we didn't expect to have the speedy service one is accustomed to in the U.S. And this suited us just fine. The scuba/snorkeling company that is set up at Na Balam is great! Don't book with anyone else, even if you can find slightly cheaper rates in town. The guides are great and it's very convenient to be able to walk out of our hotel room and get on the boat and go. So, overall, we absolutely loved, loved Na Balam. If we stay on Playa Norte again, we will definitely book with Na Balam.”
Best beach property location in Mexico. Not over crowded and you can snorkel right off the beach in warm clear water. Hotel is fairly basic but is clean and the staff are great. If you are looking for fancy this hotel is not for you but if you want a great location on a beautiful island with friendly and attentive staff I would recommend this hotel. Short walk to North Beach and the downtown "strip" for fabulous meals and entertainment.”
right on one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, this little hotel was a great find... the locals were very eager to tell me that the owner has many hotels on the island but chooses to live in this one. I don't blame him. It's really cute & it's right on Playa Norte which looks like a deserted island beach... just gorgeous. It's older, and it's basic, but I loved it & as a result, extended by another night”
PROS : - Right there on one of the best snorkeling sites (no need to take a taxi every day). - Nice Tacos restaurant. - Wine is included in the all inclusive formula - Not huge choice for food buffets, but good quality food. - Staff were very kind and attentive. Good team. CONS : - HUGE noise from pool engine room every 10 minutes ALL NIGHT LONG. Woke us up every night. - HUGE noise from trash or food supplies trucks at 3am EVERY NIGHT on our side of the hotel. - Like all other hotels in cozumel (except luxury ones), its pools are NOT heated. In december the pool was way too cool. Did not swim once. - No jaccuzi at this hotel. - Food is real real mexican food, not chevy's style. No burritos, no quesadillas, just real mexican stews, etc. If you don't have an adventurous taste buds, don't go there.”
Very satisfied with our 13 night stay in January 2012. This is the best bargain we have ever had, the hotel was very comfortable and the staff very friendly and courteous. The beach itself is OK, but it is difficult getting into the water because of rocks. Once you're in, snorkeling was good with quite a variety of fish. The food is typical Mexican (some good, some not so good), but the Italian restaurant was excellent. We would not hesitate to go back again! Kudos to Capitain Miguel.”
This was my 2nd time at Casa Mexicana and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff is very friendly and there is always someone cleaning the floors or windows or whatever. The breakfast buffet is great! And Jaime the waiter is so wonderful and kind. I didn't use the mini pool although I did see a few people in it. The sundeck is nice but it only gets sun in the afternoon since it faces west. The hotel is in a great location for walking to downtown shops and restaurants. I'll definitely be staying there again.”
Firstly if you do your homework before , there should be no surprises . It's about a 90 minute drive from Canun . The hotel stands alone on the edge of rocks with beaches both sides ( about 20 mins walk) . My room was breathtaking . Spotless, clean and HUGE . Staff very helpful . Food was great . Pool is beautiful . My only regret is that I didn't book more time there . Will definitely be back”
Nice beach hotel in Tulum. Nicely located close to the beach. No internet connection available and the resturant is not so good, however the breakfast buffet is good, but not so many alternatives. The prices is affordable and give good value for your money.”
I am not generally a user of alla inclusive large resorts but our stay at Dreams was a pleasant surprise. Rooms were nice and we got a cheap upgrade to beach room. Food was very good quality and premium liquor on request. All in all I would use it again as is convenient to Cancun airport.”
We stayed at this hotel for a weeks vacation with 2 kids (5 and 9). Let me start off by saying this place is immaculate. I have never felt more safe with my family. The room was top notch, the service was impeccable, and the beach was plenty good. I have read many of the reviews on this place and on others. I walked through about 10 of them while i was there...my recommendation, go for the food! All of them have pools as big as a football field, swim up bars, and ocean views...choose for the food. This is a very solid choice. Some of the reviews have found this and that to be less than expecations. Let me say that no place is absolutely perfect...I travel constantly and stay at 4 and 5 star places as much as possible. The food was fantastic...I entertain customers for a living and eat at nice restaraunts all over the country. Will it be written up in NY Times...no way. But the meals were very good and never failed to surprise me in presentation and quality. The drinks flowed as much as you want, the staff was so accommodating and so so friendly. Let me offer 1 small "tip"...you don't HAVE to tip at all, they will smile and tell you it was their pleasure...but if you DO (a couple of dollars for meals...$3 for breakfast, $5 for dinner) and remember your bartenders once in a while...you go from being treated great to being treated like royalty!”
We stayed at the Secrets Silversands for a week of rest and relaxation in August, and it was amazing. The room is massive - king size bed, separate area with settee and table, and an amazing bathroom with jacuzzi, walk in shower, and double sinks. The hotel is very new and everything looks great - very modern with lots of marble etc. The restaurants are excellent - the type of food i'd expect from a quality restaurant in London; the habachi - where the food is cooked in front of you - is recommended. No bookings required apart from the Habachi. The bars all stocked top quality drinks - stoli and grey goose vodka, for example. There is a main pool that is quite lively - water volleyball each day, and things like water aerobics. There are a variety of smaller, quieter pools, including a beautiful infinity pool. The service is excellent throughout the resort, and extends to constant poolside service. All in all, I couldn't recommend this hotel enough.”
We recently stayed at the Dreams Riviera resort and had a wonderful time. We have two small children who were in the pool or on the beach all day long and we actually got to relax and rest and enjoy our time together. This resort is not so big that you get lost, which we loved, but the rooms are nice and big and all of them have balconies. The rooms were incredibly clean, as was the entire resort. The pools are kept very nicely and the restaurants too. The food is definitely a cut above most all-inclusives (it's not 5-star, but it's quite good) and the service was friendly - and fast! I cannot say enough about how nice, friendly and attentive the staff were. I will say, though, that I would only recommend this resort for families or large groups. It is very family friendly, great for children, and there were also a lot of large groups, so if you're looking for an intimate couples getaway, this is probably not a good choice.”
