A wonderful hotel, historic and beautiful. Service excellent. In a great section of town. Near Santa Domingo. Can walk to everything. Would highly recommend to anyone who asked. A bit of a crowd and a wait at early morning check out -- everyone trying to catch the same plane back to Houston at dawn.”
everything is perfect at this hotel''the view of the mountains and city below, the gorgeous gardens, the friendly staff, the shuttle to and from town. this is a first class hotel. a caveat, there are many stairs to climb from the restaurant. but the food, service and view were worth the climb.”
This hotel is part of a small Hotel Mision chain. The Oaxaca hotel is run very efficiently and the staff are very helpful, although most don't speak a lot of English. It appears to be a favorite of Mexican business men and the price is very attractive. My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is about 15 minutes from the downtown Zocalo area in a quiet residential district on a hill overlooking the city.”
This is a most under-rated hotel we have stayed in for some time. It deserves more than 2.5 star rating. The rooms and hotel facilities are very comfortable and the staff is very friendly and accomodating. We would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone.”
This is not a fancy hotel but it is a very nice hotel and a great place to stay. The staff make a big effort to be both friendly and helpful. On a return trip to Oaxaca, I would definitely stay there.”
Unfortunately our stay began badly as we arrived late after travelling by bus from Puebla. The toilet in our room didn't flush and the night manager tried to find us a room with a flushing toilet. We finally settled for our original room and sorted the toilet cistern ourselves. The loo was fine for the rest of our stay and the hotel staff - particularly their charming day manager - were most helpful with booking our tours to Monte Alban and Mitla. (She also provided us with a wonderful compliamentary breakfast the next morning.)”
The Santa Fe Hotel was a lovely little oasis from the rest of the scene in Zicatela. It is located at the north end of Zicatela beach and is convenient for the beaches, stores and restaurants in that area. It is also right next to Playa Principal. The size and layout of the rooms at Hotel Santa Fe varied. We were shown a few rooms to pick from. I chose a smaller room that was more private, as our balcony was surrounded by palm trees and we were on the upper floor. The food at the restaurant is excellent, some things are a little pricey but worth it and it was a treat to dine there and to have pooside service as well. We often ate breakfast at the Tabachin, which was behind the Hotel Santa Fe. Breakfast at the Tabachin is an experience as there is one table where everyone dines together and so it's a nice way to meet people and the food is also reasonable and very good. There is no main lobby at the Hotel Santa Fe and the reception desk is in the courtyard. Generally is was a very friendly place to stay. Puerto Escondido is a great community of locals and internationals. We wanted to go somewhere in Mexico that we hadn't been to before and we had a great two weeks there. The weather was hot and sunny everyday, the sunsets were gorgeous, the food was good almost everywhere and the people were friendly.”
if it wasnt for the color and the hint of local "artesenia" - local crafts, one could easely think he was in greece. their club on the beach is very nice but be sure to get there as early as possible or there will be no reciner available... the major down is the extrimly poor continental breakfast. they do offer an upgrade to "american" breakfast as an extra, but that looks almost as poor.”
