Some of the best food and service I have had anywhere, and I have traveled to many countries. The spacious room was immaculate and cleaning staff were all around the hotel and pool Taking care of things. This is the newest of the three RIU facilities in or near Puerto Vallarta (this was at Nuevo Vallarta) and from what I was told from others, the best one to stay at. I could not have been more satisfied. One word of caution as you exit your plane on the way to transportation - there are rows of nicely dressed people on either side willing to help you with free rids and other activities. they will not come out and say it, but they are selling some form of time share or other opportunities. The Rui Palace Pacifico is very impressive as you enter the amazing lobby, and it just gets better from there. I came primarily for the food, which was awesome and bountiful. The buffets at breakfast (starts at 7AM), lunch (starts 12:30PM) and dinner (starts 6:30PM) were the best I have ever had. So many choices it is hard to describe. They have theme nights so that many of the choices are different each night. We went to the Caribbean, Mexican and gourmet nights. One night we went to one of their sit down, table service gourmet restaurants called Krystal, a sort of fusion restaurant. The appetizers were great, the sea bass fair and my wife's steak not so good. We were told the steakhouse had better steak. The menus at the Japanese and Mexican restaurants looked intriguing, but honestly the buffets were hard to beat both in quality and variety. The service (ask for Julian or Gerardo) at the buffets was better as well. Although tipping is not required, it is definitely appreciated. They brought us cappucino, wine, champagne and mixed drinks whenever requested. Did I mention the top shelf drinks were all included as well, including bottles of tequila, rum and vodka in your room? And that there is limited 24 hour room service for drinks and snacks available. There is a sports ba”
We love this hotel and have stayed here 3 times before when it was the Playa del Sol Grand. The grounds and facilities are beautiful and well kept, and the staff are awesome. We love the quiet and peaceful atmosphere and the infinity pool and the lovely beach steps away. However, since the new ownership, the food quality has deteriorated. The guacamole has always been our favorite, but this time we stopped ordering it as it isn't freshly made and is very disappointing, along with the quality of the rest of the food. We did enjoy the buffet breakfasts, especially the freshly made omelettes and the fruit. The juices however also were disappointing and tasted watered down. We did not use the all inclusive package as we prefer to walk into near by Bucerias and eat at the various restaurants for lunch dinner. This was just as well due to the poor quality of the food on the resort. If this hotel can get the food quality where it belongs, I will give it a wholehearted endorsement.”
Incredible! Wonderful staff from the front desk to check out, really remarkable people. We felt so welcome. Thank you, all. Vacations are a treasure in these hard financial times. It was well worth every peso. Very family oriented. Great food. Fun entertainment. Best by far.”
Absolutely fantastic property. Great, attentive service, not overly intrusive or over-the-top but always there with what you need. Pool and beach are great, as is the food at the restaurants. Only downside is the typical resort prices for the food/drink, but that is to be expected at a property like the St. Regis. Property is in the Punta Mita gated property, next to the golf course, but if you're looking to get into town you should have a rental car and be willing to drive 30 minutes to an hour each way depending on where you want to go - this is a resort meant to relax at and not leave.”
I visit Tepic often and has been at the Holiday Inn and Fray Junipero, must say both are good, but, the warmth of the staff at Fray Junipero is just amazing, that is why I will come often and stay in this hotel. They are remodeling, this time I found LED TV mounted on the wall, great :), showers have amazing water pressure and they clean really well.”
This was our third visit to this particular hotel in 2011. The hotel has five buildings. Rooms are simple - only soap provided so be sure to take your own toiletries and hair dryer. The best views are in Cocos 4 but there are a lot of stairs. Only Cocos 1 has an elevator. Cocos 3 building is comprised of small apartment rooms. Ask for a mattress pad as the beds tend to be hard. Hotel is "all inclusive". Plenty of fruit, vegetables, and simple Mexican fare. The beach is busy and noisy with blaring Mexican music and a rowdy activities team - but that's why we love the place! Group bike ride, yoga, aerobics in the sea, and a game of volleyball before lunch. Invest in an inflatable air mattress from the passing vendor - you won't regret it - to pad the plastic loungers or to lie on the beach if all the loungers are occupied. Dance lessons and organized games on the beach every afternoon - great fun and an excellent way to meet the Mexican guests. This resort offers a genuine Mexican holiday experience. Evening show is top-notch and the disco stays open till 3am.”
