We love this hotel and have stayed here 3 times before when it was the Playa del Sol Grand. The grounds and facilities are beautiful and well kept, and the staff are awesome. We love the quiet and peaceful atmosphere and the infinity pool and the lovely beach steps away. However, since the new ownership, the food quality has deteriorated. The guacamole has always been our favorite, but this time we stopped ordering it as it isn't freshly made and is very disappointing, along with the quality of the rest of the food. We did enjoy the buffet breakfasts, especially the freshly made omelettes and the fruit. The juices however also were disappointing and tasted watered down. We did not use the all inclusive package as we prefer to walk into near by Bucerias and eat at the various restaurants for lunch dinner. This was just as well due to the poor quality of the food on the resort. If this hotel can get the food quality where it belongs, I will give it a wholehearted endorsement.”
Incredible! Wonderful staff from the front desk to check out, really remarkable people. We felt so welcome. Thank you, all. Vacations are a treasure in these hard financial times. It was well worth every peso. Very family oriented. Great food. Fun entertainment. Best by far.”
We didn't stay for long but it was great. Of course we knew from reading other reviews that the free breakfast is a timeshare presentation and several people tried to push us into it, if u use their taxi from the airport I believe u r obligated to said presentation. We hired a company for transport. Other than those things it was an amazing beautiful refreshing place! I liked haggling with the beach vendors walking around selling stuff on the beach.”
went May 2011. This hotel was about 45 minutes away from the airport. The cab ride cost 350 pesos. This hotel was secluded on a private beach that was perfect for a beautiful relaxing getaway. My boyfriend and I (ages 27) stayed 4 nights here and loved every minute of it. The adult infinity pool was our favorite spot because it was away from the loud kids in the main pool. WEAR SUNSCEEN. The sun is very strong in Mexico and you dont want to spend yous vacation sick in your air con room with heat stroke, TRUST ME. There wasnt much to do outside of the hotel but the hotel had enough to keep us entertained. They have a sports bar playing all hockey, soccer etc games. There is a ZOO! with monkeyts, peacocks, parrots, crocadiles, ostrich, dear etc. The animals have a pretty spacious area and seem pretty happy. The nightly entertainment (from what we saw.. which was only two nights) was dull. The buffet was awesome! lots of fresh, tasty food. The restaurants were beautiful espcially the mexican one over looking the water ( go right before the sunset). Bring sunscreen and aloe before you go because the prices at the gift shop are outrageous and there is no shopping near by. they provide free daily activities like cooking classes, spanish lessons, salsa, archery, catamaran, surfing etc. The beach is beautiful. Puerta vallarta beach is kind of ugly but the beach here has beigy-white sand and clean, clear water. The water is not crystal blue because there are lots of reefs that that make the water look darker but im sure it must be good for snorkeling. We went in the end of April and the water was kind of cold but people were swimming in it but not a whole lot of people. (more for the brave- not me). Our room was standard ocean view and was very spacious. The ocean view was kind of blocked by some trees but it was still beautiful. Lots of families but they mainly stay by the main pool. The club is nice but Im not sure if it gets busy of not. They have hammocks. The weather wa”
Absolutely fantastic property. Great, attentive service, not overly intrusive or over-the-top but always there with what you need. Pool and beach are great, as is the food at the restaurants. Only downside is the typical resort prices for the food/drink, but that is to be expected at a property like the St. Regis. Property is in the Punta Mita gated property, next to the golf course, but if you're looking to get into town you should have a rental car and be willing to drive 30 minutes to an hour each way depending on where you want to go - this is a resort meant to relax at and not leave.”
I visit Tepic often and has been at the Holiday Inn and Fray Junipero, must say both are good, but, the warmth of the staff at Fray Junipero is just amazing, that is why I will come often and stay in this hotel. They are remodeling, this time I found LED TV mounted on the wall, great :), showers have amazing water pressure and they clean really well.”
First place we ever came to in Mexico and I am so glad to have returned. This resort has kept all the feeling of Mexico and the service is outstanding. So glad I came back to see for myself how great it can be.”
The beach and pool are right there. This hotel is a block from the center of town and the center of the beach. Great for walking and getting around. The staff were great and they kept the place very clean and maintained. Our room was a great value for beachfront. My only complaint was the bed was very hard. My husband loved it though. I would definitely recommend this for value and location.”
