The hotel was chosen because it was pet friendly. After checking in, the hotel staff came over with a doggie gift, a list of local dog parks, vets, and dog sitters. The hotel was not told that we had pets, even after confirming it with hotels.com, but they where happy to get us a room that was not usually reserved for pets.”
The hotel has been nicely renovated, but the age is still noticable in some aspects. The location is close to the train and the downtown attractions, but the area right across from the hotel is sketchy. Overall a good pick for location and nice king beds.”
Great welcome at reception on arrival with complimentary room upgrade. Right in the centre of Calgary close to train station and trendy 17th ave for restaurants, bars and shops. Really comfy bed. Recommend this hotel to anyone going to Calgary.”
our stay would have been better, if when we called to the front desk for a extra blanket for my son that was sleeping on hida bed. The said they were out of blanket. so my son was cold most of the night.”
Everything was excellent....except..when we got to our room, we found the door was ajar. This was a little disconcerting as we'd just passed a suspicious looking character and wondered if the room had been tampered with. We cautiously went inside, and made a phone call to the front desk to report the unattended room . They said it was maybe just housekeeping that left it open.. We thought of asking for a differnt room, but we were so tired and it was late and we really just wanted to sleep. Other than that everything was fine and dandy.”
Very nice hotel, great loaction close to LRT station, breakfast in the morning was very nice, staff were pleasant and very helpful. Only issue was that the room was a bit warm and the window didnt open very wide so it took a while to cool down.”
Hotel was nicely decorated, ok location, rooms were nice and big, beds were very comfy. The rooms have all the ammenties you need plus the space. Pool for the kids, a tad small but good for them and also has 3 outdoor hottubs which is a must after a day of skiing! Would definitely reccomend this hotel..”
A good hotel in an excellent location in the centre of Jasper. Service was great and friendly, breakfast was delicious. Room wasn't huge or nice but was clean enough to not complain about it. Great for a trip with friends, not that much for a romantic getaway. Hotel doesn't have jacuzzi or pool. Parking is across the street. I would stay here again.”
We stayed in a 2 double bed economy room on the second floor. It was clean with a modern decor despite the exterior being a very 70's design . For a reasonable price we got all the regular stuff plus a bar fridge, a small "kitchen" table and reliable Wifi. The bathroom was bright and modern. The pool was nice and the hot tub looked good though we didn't use it. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It is a bit of a walk to the downtown shops so we drove but lots of guests did walk the 10-15 minutes to downtown. I will be staying at the Marmot again should I have need to spend the night in Jasper again.”
...due to the area, five minute drive to the ski hill is a plus. Was as the best priced room in the area due to the 'Famous' hotel catering to the 0.1%ers and wannabees. Great linens, a balcony so it doesn't feel claustrophobic but still has a tube TV. Good food in the lounge. Great breakfast buffet ($$) w/healthy choices like fruit/yogurt/oatmeal but also has trad. eggs and pork. Plesant suprise that they also serve Starbucks. Comparably you could save approximately three or four 'green' notes by staying about an hour East or West; but this location is convenient if you want to be the first person on the chairlift.”
The appeal of this magnificent hotel is its location beside the beautiful Lake Louise. We treated ourselves to one night with a lake view just for the experience. Maybe tour groups get a cut rate but the charges are excessive. We found the room very small and the bed was so soft my back suffered badly, but the view was stunning. We were dreadfully disappointed in our meal at the Wuber ? restaurant. We probably made a mistake by not choosing one of the fondue dishes which are their specialty. The rest of the menu was disppointing and though my husband had a great steak, my seafood did not make the grade in any way whatsoever. I would have no problem recommending this hotel just for the location and view which must be one of the most perfect in the world.”
Deer Loge is an beautiful old building but with it's age comes a few quirks. Computer users be warned, the room I was in had a three pronged power socket in the bathroom only. In the future I will take an extension cord so I can recharge my phone and laptop in a better place than balanced on the edge of the sink. The heating in my room was impossible to control and for some reason the cleaning person left the window wide open when it was -1C outside so it took some time to warm the space up when I returned. Despite these quirks I liked the old fashioned cozy feeling of the building, the staff was friendly and the location was ideal. I hope to visit again.”
