The Cavalier on the Hill

Upon checking in I was told that they did not have a shuttle service. Even though their website stated that they did and this was one of my reasons for choosing this location. We had to walk down a long hill and across the street to get to the beach. Also there was no microwave in my room. I was told by the front desk that only select rooms were provided with them. The room itself was small and had a very loud air conditioning unit. When I complained and asked to transfer to the sister property across the street I was told that would not be possible. I was also told that a manager was not available for me to speak with. After my stay I called back and the manager called me a liar, and stated he was on the premises all weekend and that no one would have told me I could not transfer. I was very disgusted with the whole experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. They falsely represent themselves and the staff is rude.

i've stayed at the cavalier on the hill for the last fifteen years. it is slowly deteriorating, but it still has it's charms. even with the new room renovations, the ac units still make lots of noise, sometimes the shower/tubs above leak into the lower rooms below. there seems to be less and less staff to help around the hotel. the breakfast buffet in the morning should be abandoned for a more simple menu. the stay this year was quiet and the hotel seemed almost empty. i love swimming in the indoor pool, which is one of the best things about the hotel. the only serious gripe i have is that no matter when i book a room there they always stick you in back facing the air conditioning units and the maintenance building. after going down to the front desk and complaining they almost always are able to move you to a beach front room.
