Location. The chalet-style Hotel Mirage is located in the Dolomite mountains, of the Belluno region, Italy, one kilometre from the shops and bars of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Hotel Features. A complimentary shuttle bus runs into the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, and onsite there is a heated indoor pool with panoramic mountain views, as well as a sauna, spa tub, and fitness area, and in summer months guests can relax on the patio. There is also a children's playroom, and a club with special activities for the younger visitor.

Guests of Hotel Mirage enjoy a complimentary buffet breakfast, and the restaurant serves regional and Italian dishes in an informal setting with traditional mountain-style furnishings and decor in warm tones. There is also a bar, which serves cocktails, beers and wines.

The Ampezzo Valley has 100 trails for skiers and snowboarders, covering 1200 kilometres of terrain. It is also suitable for cross-country skiing through the woods and across snow-covered rivers, and guided bob-sledding trips and ice-skating are possible. Climbing, mountain biking and hiking are among the popular sports in this area in the summer months.

Guestrooms. Guestrooms have separate seating areas with tables and chairs, and wood panelled ceilings and walls with traditional furnishings in Ampezzo fabrics. All offer wireless Internet access (surcharge), satellite television, minibars, refrigerators, and bathrooms with bathrobes and hair dryers.

Expert Tip. According to legend, the Dolomites were formed when mythological King Laurin, who was a dwarf, was rejected by his lady love and so cast a spell on his roses turning them into stony peaks. The mountains furnish excellent summer walking trails and winter ski slopes.
