Location. The Residenza Ca' Bauta is located in the centre of Venice, Italy, 400 metres from the Grand Canal, and 500 metres from St Mark's Square.

Hotel Features. Situated in a Venetian palace, Residenza Ca' Bauta has high ceilings, antique furnishings, and original 15th-century features. Safe- deposit boxes are available at the 24-hour front desk where multilingual staff can provide an express check-in service and offer assistance with tourist arrangements. Airport transfers are also available (surcharge).

A complimentary bu ffet breakfast is served each morning in the bright decor of the hotel's breakfast room. Room service is also available around the clock.

Guestrooms. The six air-conditioned guestrooms have traditional Venetian decor with high, beamed ceilings, bright walls, and richly-coloured fabrics. All offer televisions, direct-dial telephones, dial-up Internet connections, and minibars. Windows open onto neighbourhood or courtyard views. Bathrooms have bidets and showers, and hair dryers are provided.

Expert Tip. An alternative to overpriced gondolas are the commuter boats known as traghetti. Similar in design, these boats carry locals across the Grand Canal at a fraction of the cost. Venetians tend to stand up for the crossing, though visitors may find this precarious. The longest route is between S. Tomà and S. Angelo.
