    We stayed in one of their junior suites. We had plenty of room, with a separate sitting area. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with separate tub and shower. The hotel was within a short walking distance to the train station, the old part of town, and to trams taking you to the palaces. We brought our dog and there was a nice park next to the hotel to walk him. Breakfast was very good, but a little pricey. It cost 16 euro extra each.The hotels and rooms were very clean. We were also able to rent bikes right at the hotel, which was very convenient. The only complaint that we had was the room was supposed to have airconditioning, but it never got quite cool enough. The windows did not open enough to get a good breeze. Since we were on the 16th floor it got a little warm and stuffy. Overall we would recommend this hotel and we got alot of room for our money.

    This hotel is about 1/4 mile from the main train station in Potsdam, and a five minute walk from downtown Potsdam. Buses to the castles depart from 1/8 mile down the street. Hotel staff provided excellent information and service; the rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. Excellent choice for travelers depending on public transportation, or biking.

Location. The Mercure Hotel Potsdam City is a contemporary, 17-storey tower block hotel located by Lake Havel in the centre of the German city of Potsdam. The Film Museum is within 200 metres of the hotel, and the Kolonie Alexandowka (Russian quarter) is one kilometre away. Potsdam's main railway station is 300 metres away and Berlin-Tegel Airport is 55 kilometres from the hotel, with an approximate driving time of 60 minutes.

Hotel Features.The air-conditioned public areas of the hotel are equipped with wireless Internet access, and complimentary newspapers are provided in the lobby. Multilingual staff at the 24-hour front desk can exchange currency, look after valuables in the safe-deposit box and offer concierge services. The hotel houses its own hair salon and dry-cleaning services can be arranged on request.

The Mercure Hotel Potsdam City's contemporary restaurant, Oscar, serves local specialities and international dishes and extends onto a terrace for outdoor dining. Cinebar serves drinks and snacks in a traditional setting.

Guestrooms. The 210 guestrooms over seven floors feature light decor and contemporary furnishings, including desks. All are equipped with satellite television with pay movies, dial-up and wireless Internet connections (surcharge), direct-dial phones, clock radios, minibars and safes. Bathrooms include showers, makeup mirrors and complimentary toiletries.

Expert Tip.The quaint Dutch Quarter, 500 metres from the hotel, consists of four blocks of houses built in traditional red brick between 1734 and 1742 by Dutch craftsmen, on the orders of King Frederick Wilhelm I.
