Pedras d'el Rei

Location. Pedras d'el Rei is a complex of 1970s apartments built in a traditional Portuguese style and situated one kilometre from the shops and restaurants of Santa Luzia, and five kilometres from the historic town of Tavira. The Benamor Golf Course is 10 kilometres from the hotel and Santa Catarina Lawn Bowling Club is 15 kilometres away. Faro Airport is 30 kilometres from the hotel, with an approximate driving time of 30 minutes.

Hotel Features. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and is set in landscaped grounds with ancient olive trees in the Ria Formosa Natural Park. A complimentary mini-train runs to the beach one kilometre away. There is a seasonal kids' club, and weekly entertainment programmes are provided for adults and children during the summer season.

Restaurant Val d'el Rei serves international dishes and Portuguese specialities in a rustic style setting with a terrace overlooking the swimming pool. The Piano Bar serves drinks and cocktails and features occasional live music and a games area with snooker and darts, while Bar Nora overlooks the swimming pool and serves drinks, snacks and light meals. Live music is on offer once or twice a week during the summer season and the bar has an electronic games area.

Guestrooms. The 178 apartments are located over three floors and all have simple modern decor and furnishings. Apartments have separate sitting areas that open on to furnished terraces or balconies, as well as kitchenettes with cookers, refrigerators, cookware and dishes. Microwaves are available on request.

Expert Tip. Go to beautiful Tavira five kilometres away, and cross the ancient Roman bridge, then stroll through Tavira's old quarter to the 11th-century castle.
