    This is a historic hotel that was being rennovated, so I got a very good rate. The rooms are very clean, spacious and grand with modern conveniences. There was wireless internet, though you had to get a code at reception and pay after an introductory free 30 minutes and the signal was weak in my room. The bar downstairs was great also with some nice locals to talk with. They set up an early breakfast for me as I had to catch a flight at 6am. Highway construction made it a bit annoying to drive, but when that is complete it will be back to normal.

    My GPS system had a hard time locating this hotel even with the address listed here on hotels.com AND Google maps. This may have been helped by the fact that the main highway leading to the hotel was under construction, as well as the hotel itself. I found it by chance - as I was driving around Lucan I saw a sign posted, but even trying to follow the sign proved a bit difficult. Once I arrived, though, I found the interior of the hotel to be very nice. There's a nice sitting area in the lobby, a restaurant (I didn't have time to use it), and a very nice bar/pub. The room was very comfortable and clean. The only real problem I had was the cost of Internet usage as I thought when I booked it said "free Wi-Fi". I would stay here again, but not when I'm flying out from Dublin airport, as it's not that convenient or close-by.

Originally part of the legendary Irish cavalry commander Patrick Sarsfield's estate, the Lucan Spa Hotel is a historic country-house hotel with a copper clock tower, situated in a peaceful location, 11 kilometres from the centre of Dublin. This three-floor hotel features 70 traditionally decorated guestrooms with coordinated fabrics and wooden furnishings. All include satellite television, wireless Internet connections, direct-dial phones and tea and coffee- making facilities. Bathrooms are equipped with shower/tub combinations and complimentary toiletries.

Guests can start their day with a traditional Irish cooked breakfast before exploring the local area. In the evening, guests can relax in front of the fireplace in the lobby, enjoy a drink in the traditional bar or unwind on the patio. Dining options include a grand, wood-panelled restaurant serving traditional Irish fare, and a contemporary bistro offering a carvery or a la carte menus.
