    Highly recommend this hotel. Perfect location for all sites in Florence. Knowledgeable staff who are most helpful with booking excursions as well as info on tipping, etc. Comfortable clean room and bathroom. Excellent complimentary breakfast. Wonderful library with free internet, large screen TV and books. We booked a standard triple and it was perfect size for three persons. Because we booked standard room, we had no balcony but the lovely patio area behind the hotel more than made up for it.

    The front desk staff was excellent--very gracious and helpful--and truly was the best part of this hotel. They provided a great restaurant recommendation very close to the hotel--Accademia--which had delicious risotto with pear and gorgonzola. (Another favorite restaurant for us was Coquinaros near Il Duomo.) Our room was satisfactory for the price. Nothing very luxurious, but we didn't expect that for this price range. We had a lovely view from our private balcony and enjoyed the garden/outdoor breakfast area. The hotel was conveniently located--an easy walk for everything we wanted to see.

The Hotel Orto de'Medici is a 19th-century townhouse retaining many original floors and frescoes, and is situated just 300 metres from Florence Cathedral and the Uffizi Gallery. Its 31 guestrooms are decorated in the classical Florentine style with hand-painted furniture and parquet flooring.
