First, the free internet access was not actually free. They gave us "free" access to a T-Mobile Hotspot, which of course I had to pay to use to connect to the internet, and the connection was not great. Second, the location was not what I expected. While the hotel was close to the Tanzbrunnen as the crow flies, there was no direct route there. So, I had to walk 3 blocks in the opposite direction to take a train back to the Messe-Deutz stop. Most of the shops were closed, and the streets were dark and empty at night (although it still felt reasonably safe). And on the first day, some kind of Turkish street market completely choked the sidewalk, making the walk to the train even longer. Beyond that, everything was good--clean rooms, modern appointments, helpful staff, decent breakfast, and the free Köln welcome card (which gave us free transport on the train). If you're trying to get to the Messe or the Tanzbrunnen on foot, or you're relying on high-speed internet access, look elsewhere. But if you're a more typical tourist, especially with a car, this would be a great hotel.

I was picked up at the airport by a very friendly taxi driver. As she was dropping us off at the hotel, there were several homeless people sitting on the sidewalk near the hotel. Not a pleasant sight. Needless to say, the reception at the front desk was just 'ok' when checking in. I would not say they are a friendly staff. They were very "dry". I asked room service for two additional towels when she was making up the room, and was told no. "They can only leave two in the bathroom." The sheets were not changed but one time during the five night stay. The flooring was not cleaned as well. The water did not drain well in the bath tub. This is certainly not a four star hotel. It is similar to a two star motel, not Hotel! Please be careful when booking at this hotel. It is not worth the money at all.
