This hotel was near the gare de nord... so perhaps staying here near the beginning or end of your trip. The rooms were of course small and the bathrooms were clean... awkwardly though the shower had a hose and sprayer but you could not use it as a shower, you had to hold the sprayer in your hand??? The hotel is relatively close to a metro stop. overall this is a city hotel, perhaps you may find a nicer hotel not so close to the station? Nearby restaurants are nothing to speak about...

We stayed for 3 nights in May, 2008 and the hotel exceeded our expectations. If you are looking for a hotel close to everything, with a very comfortable Full-size bed and cute neighborhood, this is the one you're looking for! We were able to control the temperature in the room, store our valuables in an in-room safe, watch tv on a plasma, and keep OJ in the refrigerator mini-bar. Skip the breakfast at the hotel if you can (pricy at 6 euros for croissants and 11 euros for a cold cuts/pastry breakfast) and go to the pastry shop around the corner (best chocolate croissants I've ever had and only cost about 1 euro each!). There's also a small market to get OJ and other necessities at. Didn't use the internet so I can't comment on that. Staff was extremely friendly (make sure to say "bonjour", "merci" and "au revoir" since not to do so is deemed as being rude) and gave us exactly what we wanted (non-smoking, double room at the back). Walls are thin (you hear people in the hall) but the street is quiet so that didn't bother us at all and I don't remember hearing people inside their rooms too much either from our room. It really is 3 min to the Cadet station and is about 15-20 min walk to the Opera (where you can pick up the L'Open tour bus). Neighborhood was safe and really cute. Stick to the all-French restaurants without English on the menu for the best meals. Post office located across the street. Checkout had no surprises in terms of extra costs and the staff was able to get us a taxi in 5 min and check us out even while fielding several calls on the phone and running out of paper on the printer (she knew we were running a bit late to catch the eurostar). Yes, it is a bit smaller than what we americans are used to in the US but we (there were two of us) were able to fit our luggage in just fine and able to walk around the bed and the bathroom was pretty large to me (shower worked great too). Would definately stay there again the next time we're in
