Elk Forge B&B Inn & Day Spa

Location. Nestled on five wooded acres along the Big Elk Creek, the Elk Forge B&B Inn & Day Spa is located four miles north of Elkton, Md. in the sleepy village of Elk Mills. This area is rich in history and natural beauty. The inn is three miles from Interstate 95, with a one-hour drive west to Baltimore and one-hour drive east to Philadelphia. Activities available nearby include horseback riding, hiking, fishing, canoeing, golfing, carriage rides and antiquing.

Features. This manor was erected in the stately colonial style in the eighteenth century. The current innkeepers purchased the home in 1981, and renovated it to become a welcoming bed and breakfast. The Elk Forge Forge B&B Inn & Day Spa offers hammocks and a lawn swing to relax in, and gardens and woods for a leisurely stroll. The spacious lawns provide the perfect setting for croquet or badminton, or practice on the putting green. The day spa offers Swedish massages, aromatherapy facials, and other spa services daily. A full breakfast is served with fresh baked breads and daily selections. Afternoon tea is offered on the weekends, and evening snacks are provided during the week.

Guestrooms. The guestrooms and suites at Elk Forge B&B Inn are individually appointed with a different theme. Some rooms have four-poster beds, antique beds, fireplaces, bay windows and warm oak Victorian antiques. All of the units have a private bathroom, and some have a whirlpool bathtub. Standard amenities for all accommodations include a telephone, modem hook-up, message service, cat-5 high-speed Internet access, cable television, VCR and air conditioning.

Expert Tip. Many of the Victorian antiques adorning the house are available for sale in the on-site gift shop.
