Description
See more detailsLocation. The Zulu Nyala Game and Heritage Lodge is a traditional South African stone and thatch property in the bush conservation game reserve in Hluhluwe. Tembe Elephant Park and Sodwana Bay are 70 kilometres away. Richards Bay Airport (RCB) is 120 kilometres from the lodge, an approximate driving time of 60 minutes.
Hotel Features.Facilities at this countryside hotel include an outdoor pool set in the gardens and surrounded by sun beds, and pampering body treatments and massages at the spa centre. There are leather sofas in the lounge by the open fireplace, traditional mosaic-like stonework featured throughout the property, and Internet connections in public areas. Host rangers assist with trips into the bush, including day or night game drives in open all-terrain vehicles and guided bush walks following elephants along ancient riverbeds.
The Boma is the hotel's buffet-style restaurant. It has a thatched roof and decor with a distinctly African flavour, including traditional wooden African furnishings, vibrant colours, animal skins and typical African crafts. Meals are served on the veranda with views of the Lebombo Mountains, and bush meals can be arranged.
The hotel is a haven for nature lovers, and the game reserve is home to elephants, rhino, buffalo and lions. Facilities include a games room with billiards, and volleyball and tennis courts.
Guestrooms. Zulu Nyala Game Lodge offers 50 air-conditioned guestrooms located on one floor, all of which have traditional African decor in rich, earthy tones characterised by vibrant African fabrics and artworks, beamed ceilings, stone walls and tiled floors with rugs. All include private patios, tea and coffee making facilities, safes and direct-dial phones.
Expert Tip. With over 400 recorded species of bird the Zulu Nyala region is ideal for birdwatchers. Walking and hiking trails, river boat cruises at sunset, Zulu dancing shows and trips to Zulu cultural villages can also be organised by the hotel.
