    Everything about this hotel was excellent. Good service. Best breakfast in a 3 week trip in Italy. Spacious room. The outdoor rooftop terrace overlooking the city was a tremendous bonus. I had a car and there was plenty of free parking provided by the hotel. The location is just inside the walls in a quiet neighborhood but just a short walk to the city center.

    This was our second stay at the Athena, and we were just as happy this trip as we were 9 years ago. The location is great when using Siena as a home base because you can come into town through the Porta San Marco and drive along the city walls to the hotel parking lot (free)in a minute or two. It's an easy walk to the Campo and the Duomo. The desk staff all spoke English well and were uniformly friendly and helpful. Our room was large, as was the bathroom, which had a typical funky Italian shower(i.e. some water always finds it's way to the floor). The rooftop terrace has decent views and is a nice place to have a glass of wine before your passegiata or after dinner.
