    We had a wonderful stay at the Belleview Biltmore. The room was very spacious with a view to the beautiful grounds. For breakfast, we had their buffet, which was delicious and reasonably priced. We were really looking forward to staying at this historic landmark and weren't let down!

Location. The Belleview Biltmore Resort & Spa occupies 23 landscaped acres atop a 30-foot bluff in a Clearwater, Fla., gated residential community. The resort overlooks the western Intracoastal waterway.

Hotel Features. Built in 1897, this Victorian-style property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A broad driveway lined with palm trees and Spanish moss-draped live oak leads to the hotel's historic lobby. On-site dining options include the pool-view Palm Grill that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner service, weekend buffets, and Sunday Champagne Brunch. The Bahama-themed Sunset Bar serves light fare and cocktails. Maisie's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor contains a full-service espresso bar and highlights the locally made ice cream. St. Andrew's Pub contains a pool table and live music performs in the Lobby Bar. The hotel's day spa offers massage therapy, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, body wraps, water aerobics, individual Pilates instruction and beauty services. A complimentary, limited-hour fitness center contains cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, and free weights. The 18-hole, Donald Ross-designed golf course offers a championship-level golf experience. The resort houses four outdoor red-clay tennis courts. A Grecian-style indoor pool, an outdoor resort pool, and an outdoor pool located on Sand Key Beach provide refreshing relaxation. The resort provides complimentary shuttle service to the golf course and to the resort's Gulf of Mexico beach.

Guestrooms. This four-story resort offers 226 guestrooms of varying configurations. Select rooms are furnished with ceiling fans and decorative, non-functional fireplaces, while all accommodations feature period mahogany furnishings. Refrigerators are available in select accommodations. High-speed wired Internet access is complimentary.

Expert Tip. The hotel hosts a wealth of activities that include bicycle rentals, a 90-minute tour of the hotel's historic underground passages, an interactive murder mystery dinner theater, and organized boat trips to visit dolphins and endangered manatees.
