Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 13maybe, just maybe 3 stars, definitely not 4 stars
The Kensington Close Hotel and Staff are friendly and nothing can beat the hotel's location. However, the charge for the internet in the rooms when most hotels in London offer the internet for free. Their solution, four pay by the minute computers in the lobby, is embarrassing. The quality and size of the rooms is poor, even my London standards. This hotel might rate three stars. Nothing more.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 4 of 13Great location/below standard room
This hotel is an incredible location to Notting Hill and Mayfair locations. If you want to sight see with incredible ease, this is your hotel. However, please be advised that you may not be that impressed with the cleanliness of the room and especially the bathroom. My bathroom was incredibly small for a major city and the fixtures were antiquated and that is not in a quaint way! The bathroom door did not work and there was mold. If you are not bothered by bathroom convenience, than I would recommned this hotel for location, price and very friendly staff. Fantastic shopping and restaurants right outside your dooor!

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 13Obnoxious Staff
Completely rude and couldnt be bothered with going out of their way to help anyone. And on top, when i went back to get to stay another night, the manager gave me 3 different quotes. Very shady and unprofessional. I was treated horribly.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 13Bad for the money
The room is very small and service is bad. On last day of stay, hotel tries to increase the nightly rate by 30 GBP or move us. Front desk staff is very uncourteous. There is a 5 GBP charge for use of pool.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 7 of 13Great disappointment
The Kensignton Close Hotel is at best a three star hotel. The entrire staff from the front desk to the consierge were extremely unhelpful and very short in their responses to basic questions posed to them.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 13Needs Improvement
For a nice looking hotel we were extremely dissatisifed with the service. Our phone and safe did not work all 3 days that we stayed at this hotel. Despite 13 seperate conversations that me and my friend had with them they acted as if this was new information each time. We asked to change rooms the first night since the phone and safe did not work and they said no even though there were empty rooms. My friend had a family emergency (death in the family) and lost her credit card and they kept telling her family that our phone was off the hook despite all of our reports and told us that we could go outside and use the payphone if we really needed it. Also, the internet was down for a day as well (not due to the phones). They did not offer to make any accomodation for us despite all the problems. Poor service, unwillingness to help, and lack of communication amongst the staff. Really disappointing we thought this would be one of the better places we stayed on the trip. Take this review from someone who is not likely to leave a bad review or complain, but I could not hold back my experience from others who might consider staying at this hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 9 of 13Weak at best
Small rooms. Good location. Impossibly incompetent front desk personnel. Not a great deal for the money. Criminally high and inconvenient charges for internet access -- 10 Pounds for 12 hours and 15 Pounds for 24 hours.

Meets the basic needs with a reat location but is over-priced, even for London!

Trip Type: Business Review 11 of 13Nice pool, shame about the hotel
This hotel bills itself as a 3 1/2 star 'spa' but needs a total make-over. Though the pool (about 20 meters, maybe a bit longer) and gym (compact) are fine, the hotel is more like 2 1/2 star. The standard rooms are coffin-sized and threadbare. You have to get an executive business room to get a reasonable double bed. Wifi access in the rooms is charged at £15 per day. The breakfast buffet is awful. Most of the staff mean well but have no clue about service. Stay here only if you are an avid swimmer!
