Although the common areas are lovely, my room was old and extremely dated. There's no wireless connection, and I was unable to connect with the Ethernet. They changed the modum but they confirmed there was an issue in the wall. They were sold out so I was stuck. Also the elevator was out of order for part of the time, ...not practical. The gym however was newly redone, and had state of the art machines.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 17Nice hotel, but a little worn
Nice hotel, but a little worn and overpriced. There are a lof of hotels in Toronto that are newer, cleaner and just as swanky ... but for less per night. It's not a bad hotel, but for the price I was surprised there is no free internet access and no WiFi at all.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 17Pretty Good Place
This Hotel was very classy, but the rooms were a bit small. Small pool. The most unattractive part was the $40 a day for parking. There is no where else to park too. And you have to valet your vehicle and the attendants were tip hungry. I am sure there are more nicer places to stay at. The best part of the hotel was the location. right across from Union Station and near the CN tower & Rogers Centre.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 17Great location
Close to the famous sights in Toronto, including the Hockey Hall of Fame. No bell hop service, however, caused me to rely on the kindness of a outoing guest to get my luggage up the stairs and get into the hotel. Additionally, I woke up the night clerk on a Friday night to ask him a question, as he was obvious sound asleep in the back. I paid too much for such poor service.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 17Check-in and Chreck-out a Royal Pain
Hotel had no record of my reservation. Took 20 minutes to check-in, at least. Waited in line for 30 minutes to get a copy of my final bill. Otherwise, great hotel in great location.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 8 of 17Be prepared to pay for parking
According to the hotel website, it states that a guest would pay $17.00 a day for parking, which does not include in and out privledges. If you wished to utilize the hotels Valet parking service, you would pay $32.00/day but would include in and out privledges. When you arrive at the hotel, you do have adequate signs to direct you to the parking garage. You recieve a ticket and then you have self-pay stations when you are ready to check out. When we were checking out, I specifically asked the lady at the registration desk, if we needed a voucher or anything to get out of the parking garage. She said no, just utilize the self-pay station and have a safe trip home. Well, an overnight stay in the parking garage costed us $66.00!, not the $17.00/day that was stated on the website. That was such a shock, we could not believe it. So my advice to you is to just verify the parking rates when you check in to ensure what is stated on the website is actually correct.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 17Eighty Years Old
The hotel is 80 years old, so don't expect spacious rooms. The location is great, and the amenities are nice. Our first room had not been cleaned - dirty toilet - in the worst way! The second room had not been vacuumed, and had a strong odor. The third room was cleaned prior to our arriving. We were stunned to have the second room not be as nice as the first in terms of view and size. The third room was okay, but we expected when they got things so wrong twice in one day they would have upgraded us. They did not, and when I spoke to the issue at check out, they brushed over it. Also, the valet parking was very expensive. We were in Toronto on what we hadn't known prior to arriving was a provincial holiday. Family Day in Ontario means almost everything is closed. Check a calendar prior to going, it could make a big difference. The pool and wet and dry sauna are well-kept. This is an area in which the hotel shined. Ice water with citrus fruit slices was available, and luxurious towels provided as you arrived at the pool/workout area. Bathroom was very small. Robes were provided. Bed was comfortable.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 17Forget the goldrooms
Made big mistake. Goldrooms are only 250 square feet darker and more expensive than 500 square foot deluxe rooms. Usdusally the most expensive rooms are the best but not the Goldrooms here. Private goldfloor lounge isn't anything special. Fancy floors, walls ceilings and lighting but better to get the deluxe rooms. Free continental breakfast is nothing to get excited about. They had some fish strips that smelled like grim death. Only place in hotel serving dinner after 10:30 pm was in the lobby lounge. Bad, small portion, meals. Cost over $100.00 for the two of us. Awful. Mc Donalds would have been a thousand times better. Stay at 1 Kings west high up in tower section. Better everything there.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 17Poor Hotel Experience
I had paid for a room with double beds as I had family members traveling from the USA to meet me in Toronto. The hotel advertises that check-in is at 3:00 PM. I was at the check-in counter at 3:00 PM and was told to come back at 4:00 PM as my room was not ready. When I returned I was given a room with 1 bed (for 3 adults). I went to the front desk to report the error only to be told that was the only room available as they were sold out. (Apparently, booking weeks in advance doesn't count for anything. I asked to speak to the Manager whose "customer service" consisted of telling me that "the room is guaranteed not the number of beds" and displayed no empathy whatsoever and basically said there was nothing he could do. After continuing to express my dismay, he asked that I come back later in the evening and he would try to work something out. I returned at 10:30 PM and they did find me an appropriate room but this experience put a damper on the whole weekend, which was supposed to be about 3 brothers getting together following the death of our father.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 17"Everything costs extra"
The overall look of the Hotel was 1st Class. The rooms were very nice, but look out for all the extras. Extra cost for internet, overall priced vallet, questionable vallets, watch out for the snackes in the room. I was over charged on the vallet. They reversed it and then charged it back again. They finally reversed the double carge off for good. It also took way to many phone calls to get this taken care off.

Trip Type: Romance Review 15 of 17Needs Improvement!
I was honestly expecting a lot more from this hotel, given their great reputation. Our room was small and outdated. It also need some minor repairs throughout, but especially in the bathroom. We booked a room with a King size bed, which was confirmed by the front desk person when checking in, but when we got to the room, it was only a Queen. When I questioned them about it, they said it was because I had booked on a third party website and they just "give out what is available" when those guests check in, which was a little frustrating as we expected, and paid for, a King size bed! To top it off, while we were enjoying the pool and hot tube a pipe burst in the ceiling so they had to evacuate the pool area! Other than these things, the hotel is in a very convenient location, which made it easy to see the sights we wanted to see. Would I stay there again though? Probably not....
