The hotel can definitely improve. We didnt even have shampoo and soap at the bath tub. No free drinking water available. Not many people were there.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 16Needs Improvement!
The hotel was very nice... The service, however, was horrible! When we first checked in at the front desk, the people were very quiet and not friendly. There was weddings going on and it was very loud in our room. Our car got locked in the parking garage over night (which was never told to us that it gets locked!), we had to be at an appointment at 8am and it took someone an hour to come unlock the gates at the parking garage. Parking was very inconvenient.

I couldn’t book hotel at down town San Jose day before ½ marathons. Just I needed some where very close to San Jose down town to get race. Hotel location was very quiet place next to park, easy access to 101 freeways, 10min to San Jose down town if you drive a car 75miles/h speed from hotel. There was no computer for guest use, no simple maps at front disk. It wasn’t friendly welcome feeling when I checked in time of 6pm. No smile on face or voice. I went out for dinner because I didn’t want disappointed with unfriendly services at hotel restaurant. Big party of wedding was going on Saturday, I was getting ready for race next day but loud music kept going on some where above my room until 11:45pm. I guess I picked wrong time to stay.

In a hotel that was about 40% full I was put in a room next to the employee entrance. I was awoken at 5:00 am to the sound of slamming doors that went on until well after 6:00. When I checked out I was told they would take it under advisement. Not what I call customer service!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 5 of 16Good Hotel but Poor Initial Greeting
When we checked in the clerk did not explain clearly how to get to our room. We roamed the halls with our luggage and finally had to walk back to the front desk which was in another building. It made me feel foolish but I had to find our room. Someone had to show us the door which did not clearly indicate rooms were behind this door. The signs were on a wall behind the direction we were walking. I recommend the hotel put these signs on the door or in both directions. Also the cletk at the front desk did not give us our free breakfast coupons, and did not explain we had to be there by 10am. This young lady was not very friendly, but she was polite. The service at breakfast was outstanding !!!

The hotel is somewhat remote. AC in the room was horrible. Charging $10 for internet service at a hotel of this standard seems tacky. Breakfast was good but the voucher only covers $12 of the $14 charge; seemed odd...

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Dolce Hayes Mansion recently on a trip to San Jose. We were extremely disappointed. The rooms are nice and clean and do have a lot of amenities. However the guest service here is horrible. When we approached the front entrance there was a man staring at us through the window, instead of opening the door and greeting us he just stood still. We came in and asked a young lady where we check in. She rudely replied in the front with that guy, pointing to the man who was staring at us. He checked us in and sent us on our way. The down side to the room was the fact it was in the convention center wing so it was loud and had many drunken people falling down everywhere. The next day we went out and when we returned to our room our key didn't work. Again had to talk to the front desk, who made no apologies and claimed the key cards must have been demagnetize... even though they worked on the elevators to let us in. In summary nice rooms, bad service and parking that is far from the rooms makes a stay at any Best Western look luxurious by comparison.

The mansion itself is beautiful and the grounds are well kept, but the room itself was nothing but an average hotel room. The decorations in the hallways and rooms where "hotel" pictures, etc. The furniture in the room and the decor was like staying at an average holiday inn.

The rate we got the room at was great. But when we got there, the room was somewhat smaller than expected which was still alright because it was a good price. But then the comforter had a bunch of white stuff on it, meaning the comforter was not washed, and lead us to thinking what else was not cleaned.

We arrived on a Tuesday with obviously low occupancy. We requested a quiet out of the way room. We were given one immediately across from the elevator, which kept us up late. After midnight, staff woke us up by entering the room. Early in the morning we were awaken again by staff entering the room, twice. All this with a Do Not Disturb sign out. A bad experience. We will not be back.

The staff was not so friendly. I guess for the money paid it was ok but you would expect more for a 4 star hotel. We won't stay there again for sure.
