Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 13Second Time NOT a Charm
This was my second stay. The first time I paid a little more and it wasn't as great as I expected. The second time, it was a little less money, so I figured I could live with it. What I didn't expect was the rapid deterioration in condition ! The lobby is lovely and clean, the rest is not. All of the following items were dirty and in poor condition: room, towels, elevator, breakfast room, pool lounge chairs and pool area. They need to hire new management or get them a pair of glasses! I will not stay again. Also they have the nerve to charge $5.00 extra a day for parking. That's an outrage! What a shame. It's looks nice, but you will be disappointed. Thought you'd like to know!!

I knew going in from the other reviews and the price that the place would be iffy, but I was still totally disappointed. To say the elevators are slow is an understatement. I was on the sixth floor and I took the stairs more than half the time.Dirty carpets in the room, mildew in bath,bath floor dirty and balcony is 3X4 The room smelled and when I complained at the front desk I was offered the 1 800 number for their corporate office.I will not be back.

Check in experience was horrible. Check in staff not friendly, nice or accomadating at all. Trash cans overflowing in pool area and outside of hotel. Flying roach in room lst night (had to kill it myself the next morning). Fire alarm went off at 2:20 am and 6:40 am the second night. Clerk came in after second alarm and took the fire alarm down. (how safe were we then?) Wires hanging down from airconditioner. Told staff at check out about problems and seemed to have cared less. Worst hotel experience ever.

Although not bad, the room we had showed some wear. There was a big red stain on the carpet. The door to the patio and the main door were not very secure - quite loose.

Elevator was slow, Nice Hotel, Family Oriented. Yellow cloth beach chairs needed to be cleaned. Stay was nice..Could have let us know about the $5 parking before we booked - probably would have stay elsewhere.

Pros: clean, friendly staff Cons: The first room I was given the toilet was broken. The second room the bathroom exhaust fan filter was clogged. I thought the biggest Security threat was the broken lock on the sliding door but it turned out to be the front desk. After returning from a walk on the beach we found someone else in the room. The front desk rented the room to someone else giving them keys to our room. Thankfully they were honest. The TV had very few channels to watch. Hope you like it warm. The noisy a/c could not cool the room adequately.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 13Wouldn't choose this hotel again
The Alcupulco was disappointing. The staff wasn't friendly or knowledgable about the area. The bed was uncomfortable, my wife and I woke several times. Also, the A/C wasn't able to maintain the temperature in the room. It was hot, then freezing. But, it wasn't just the hotel, I suppose Daytona Beach has lost something because the area at the beach was run down. There were many closed hotels and many cheap motels all along the beach strip. The beach itself is of course still beautiful, but I wish we would have stayed in Cocoa Beach or even Jacksonville Beach for that matter. My wife and I will not be returning to Daytona anytime soon and should we stay elsewhere and find a "resort" like The Alcupulco we will certainly change hotels.

This hotel is older and we were there during Tropical Storm Fay. We stayed for 2 nights even though we had booked 4. We had to leave before we were flooded in. When I wanted to leave, the hotel staff told Hotels.com that it was just a little storm that was just going to blow over. I had 2 toddlers stuck in a room. I had to go talk to management and complain before they would refund our money so we could leave. During this little storm I think there was 10 deaths storm related. The room itself was just old, the air conditioner was so loud it keep us awake at night and didnt even cool the room. The blankets were scratchy and old. And the floor was soaken wet where the air conditioner was, I guess due to it being like a cheap window unit. It was just a unpleasant stay.

Do not disclose information to people on the phone or in person pertaining to a guest. "Safety of guest" should be the number one priority. Along with comfort and enjoyment of their trip.
