Needs Improvement

We've stayed in several Fairmont's around the country and I have to say, we were disappointed in the Fairmont Dallas. The rooms were small and the bathroom was exceptionally small and out of date. The toilet was one that you would find in a public restroom! YUCK! However, the service was great and the rooms were clean and the hotel was extremely quiet considering there were Halloween parties and Homecoming parties going on. There was also MAJOR road construction that was a big inconvenience, but that wasn't the hotels fault. Unfortunately, I doubt we will stay at this hotel again. I've stayed in several hotels in Dallas and this just wasn't worth the effort to sit in backed up construction traffic for hours and then relax in a room with a public restroom type bathroom! Not worth it!

there's better out there

i was charged an extra night of valet (we stayed 2 nights with in-an-out privileges of valet but was charged 3). We requested a non-smoking room but got one that had tobacco odor everywhere to the point where we got light headed. Calling to the front desk, we were unable to get a room change, so instead they sent housekeeping to spray a deordorizer that masked the smell for 5 mins. After walking to the front desk and telling them the importance of needing to breathe in our room, she found us a room. The final straw we had was with the shower. After getting out of a shower, i discovered the entire bathroom floor covered in water. At first i thought the toilet was leaking but it was the shower curtain! There was no plastic to keep the water in the tub. Instead it was made out of cloth which the water just absorbed through to the other side and went all over the bathroom. For the money we paid i'd expected much better.

Dated rooms with discounted rates

Staff was wonderful. Discounted room needed major updating. Not your typical Fairmont, so do not expect it. Lots of construction around hotel, so very difficult to get to. Dead part of downtown at night, so we didn't wander around.

Very dissapointed

I stayed at the fairmont dallas and hated it. I booked a suite a month in advanced and when i checked in they said they were sorry they were out of suites and upgraded us to the fairmont gold room which was less than half the size of the suite.We had 5 people staying with us and the room they put us in was tiny. They also told us we had a private lounge on floor 18 but when we went up there we were unable to get in because our card would not work. Also we told them at check in that we needed a roll away bed and he said he would send one right up and when we got back to our hotel at 3 in the morning we still had not recieved the bed and had to call back up to the front to have them bring it up. They also told us we would could eat breakfest that next morning for free and it was the worst free breakfest ever. Lets just say if u book in advance theres no point.

no good avoid if you can

the service in the hotel was not what we expected and in my eyes i felt as though the staff was very rude

Could have been better

After one night of a 4 night stay during the hot Texas summer, my husband and I decided that the hotel room was not staying cool. When maintenance tried to fix A/C, the best he could do was to bring a portable fan. Hotel Management then told us they could move us to another room. So we moved.... to a smaller room. We were with a convention, but there seemed to be plenty of rooms. Basically the experience was a little disappointing for the quality of this hotel.

Needs Improvement

This hotel needs to remodel!!! The out side is gorgeous but the inside was not great at all. Very outdated, and if you stay here remember to bring your cleaning supplies so you can disinfect. The maid that cleaned up our room did not use cleaning supplies, they just wiped down and put clean linens up nicely folded. So hopefully they washed with detergent.

Needs Managment Improvments

Reservations were not as requested. Manegment moved me and my guests three times. paide for room with two beds had to settle for room with one queen and a roll-a-way bed and still had to pay full rate. I will not book with this hotel again.

If you want an 2 buck candy bar, this the place for you!

I arrived and no one offered to help me in with bag. The There was no self park option so I valet for what later turned out to be $21!!! My husband works on the east coast and stays at nicer hotels than this and parking is either free or $10 to valet! Then at check-in the lady was ok, but NOT Texas friendly! I went up to my room and the key did not work! I came back down with my heavy bag and told her. No apology, just a ok we will switch your room. Then I ask if there is somewhere I can grab a sandwich? She speaks of the resturant/bar. I walk over to the bar, in 10 min never greeted, Walk over closer to register and order a 10$ BLT. Well 30 min later and after several times in asking, my food had not arrived. No apology. I walk to the hotel convience store. Most of there snack food was expired and the s ickers bar was 1.85!! What??? I ended up wandering around downtown for over an hour and returned with a cookie from CVS. Oh and my tv didt work either but I was done complaining. So for what you pay here?not worth it one little bit!
