Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 135Just ok
Our overall experience was just ok. We had requested a king bed when we made our reservation, but received a room with 2 queens instead. The rooms were decent, but we were not impressed with the restaurant choices. An ok option for the price, but not what we had hoped for.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 135South Point, Las Vegas
Too far out (I had to ask if it was actually a Vegas address. It is, but barely.) If you don't smoke, don't stay there. Really, the casino is terrible and the smell follows you right to your room. Death by "gold": If you like a primarily monochromatic gold color theme, you'll love your overly large room. This place just made me hate Vegas more than I already do. It's a place where the have nots pretend to have fun. If you have to be in Vegas, be IN Vegas, not on the edges!

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 4 of 135Good stay!
hotel that has everything except the right location. If you visit Las Vegas for the night life of the Strip, this hotel is located too far from the center. But as a casino and over night hotel, it has the most you need.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 135OK
This hotel suited my needs for I really only needed a bed and a fitness center otherwise was working. Price was great, but everything else was ala carte - fitness center, steam room etc. If you are working and do not need to be on the strip then this is the place, but if you are using it as a resort - probably look other places. Room was new and clean, but a little blah.

The bathroom smelled liked they used dirty mop water. Construction going on outside all night long, all you heard was, beep beep. Hair dryer did not work.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 8 of 135where the heck is this place???
got a great rate from hotels.com for a 4 star hotel so I jumped on it. if this hotel was in the middle of the strip it would be awesome. However, it took at least 20 minutes south drive from the airport ($28 cab ride) to get there. it's in the middle of nowhere. Hotels.com mentioned a complimentary shuttle to the hotel and to the south end of the strip - be warned! The shuttle to the airport only runs once an hour and you *must* make reservations in advance. The shuttle also posts a sign inside that they *no longer* provide service to the strip as of December 2008. On the good side, the room was awesome - huge! great bathroom and amenities. On a not so good side, there is an equestrian center connected to the hotel, with the closest access next to one of the main restaurants. If you are ok with the smell of livestock as you are eating, then this is the place for you! I will not stay here again because of the very far distance to the strip and anything else of interest. If you don't care about that, then this is a nice place.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 9 of 135Too far away!
I wish I would have known how far away from everything this hotel was. It is located about 5-6 miles out of town so one must spend ~$60 round trip for taxi fare to go much of anywhere. The hotel itself was fine, the restaurants OK, the oppressing cigarette smoke is everywhere (not just this place). I did like that is was not as hectic as most other hotels on the Strip and that there was plenty to do within the confines.

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 135bad location
I stayed one night in the hotel. I was on honeymoon with my hubby and I booked a king bed and they onely have queen bad. The room is normal, not impressive. But consider the price, it is ok.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 135Drawbacks of Southpoint
Overall the facilities are ok. Food is good but not spectacular. Rooms are good size and maintained well. The biggest draw back is the distance from the main strip. Southpoint used to run a shuttle to the Mandalay Bay which got you to the doorway of the main action in Las Vegas. I was surprised to learn that they discontinued the service. The taxi ride from the Southpoint to Mandalay Bay is approx $25.00 each way. There's not much in the immediate area of the hotel so unless you want to stay on the premises, its a big drawback.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 14 of 135Okay, but only once.
Hotel was okay. A good distance from the strip, convenient to airport. Room was comfortable. Didn't like having to drag my bags all across the casino to check in. Room was missing remote for TV, had to track down a hotel employee to get one. Plus, the TV did not show channel numbers, very frustrating. Decent location, but wouldn't walk down the street at night. Food at all restaurants in hotel was awesome. Coupon book upon check-in helped defer costs. Beware: $15 fee to use Internet, $15 fee to use gym, all in addition to a $25 "resort fee" tacked onto my bill. Still trying to figure out what a "resort fee" entitled me to. I guess it costs that much to use the pool. Won't be staying here again.
