Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 39Hotel with future potential
The hotel lobby was under contruction and did not reflect in the pictures advertised. Parking was in the basement and slightly inconvient. Exit and entering the garage you had to call the front desk to raise the gate.

Noisy construction work on a portion of the property caused 2 early morning awakenings. The water was turned off for 4 hours one day during my stay.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 39Decent Place to Sleep
The Good: The hotel was easy to find, though we live in the area and knew our way around better than someone who isn't. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet and comfortable - especially the beds. Check in/out was easy and the while there was no porter, the doorman was very helpful and friendly. The Bad: The hotel is undergoing renovation on the first floor - not sure if this is Katrina-related or just some updating. The lobby was dark and dusty and had a damp, musty smell (not very surprising with the construction). The marble floors are in very bad need of polishing, but again, they are doing construction. I thought the fake plants (lots of them and very much in need of dusting) were pretty tacky - hopefully they will get something real in the future. Parking is really scary and expensive. Their garage is under the hotel and anything larger than a small SUV is not going to get down there. Parking is $20 a day. The process is confusing as well - you have to check in to your room before you can park and you have to notify the front desk everytime you leave and come back so that they can operate the gate. As the title says, this is a decent place to sleep, but there were absolutely no amenities -period. There wasn't even any ice in the ice machine. There is not a restaurant in the hotel due to renovations, so if you want something cold to drink, you have to use the vending machine which only had coke and was out of everything else. I found out in the morning that there weren't enough bath rags in the room, so I had to bathe with a hand towel - not horrific, but annoying. There wasn't anything just awful about the stay, just lots of little annoyances that left a little bit of bad taste in my mouth. Overall, I would recommend this to someone who has business downtown and will be in meetings the whole time but will not need any business services -such as fax, etc. Though I do think the hotel has free wireless. I would not recommend this fo

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 39false advertising
We booked this hotel because it advertised that it had free parking. but the lot was full and we got nothing. We also liked the idea of a smoke free hotel room. But our hotel room smelled like cigarette smoke. When we complained the cleaning woman came up to spray lysol all over the place. Then our room smelled like lysol and cigarette smoke. front desk staff was relatively useless.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 39Rude Manager
We stayed at Baronne Plaza two non-consecutive nights. They have furniture blocking the fire exits, and are doing tons of construction and the gym and restaurant are closed. I had to ride in an elevator full of TV's and barely had room to stand. To top it off, I called the hotel to ask about adding an extra person to our reservation, they said, "no problem, there is a $xx charge." I got here and it was a problem. It was the amount they said to stay, then that same amount again to have a cot to sleep on. The manager had a horrible attitude, talked over me and raised her voice. The rooms are "renovated", which apparently means updated beds and shoddy workmanship, especially in the bathroom. The entire floor of the lobby is covered in a layer of dust due to the construction, and no one seems concerned about getting it clean. When coming to the Big Easy, do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel like the plague.

Our air conditioner quit working on the 2nd night there. They did fix it the next day but it made for a long night. I read that they had "undergone" a remodel online. They didn't mention that it was ongoing. There were mattresses in the lobby....Overall, not bad for the price paid but I have stayed in nicer places.

This was not my first visit to this hotel.. On my previous visit, and on this visit the front desk staff were very quick to help get me checked in AFTER they were finished with their personal calls (on their cell phones). The room was dirty - dirty was cloth in the shower - and just not a "fresh and clean" feeling (or smell) for the entire room. Took FOREVER for the AC to cool the room off. Best part, was the hip hop music playing over the sound system in the lobby... very classy...

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 39Below average hotel
The hotel is conveniently located in downtown New Orleans. It is within two blocks of Bourbon St. Although located in a very good location, the room cleanliness and overall hotel feel was poor. The hotel felt very old and worn down. Parking in the hotel cost $20/nt and it was not even convenient. There is no elevator from the parking garage to the lobby. You also have to inform the front desk when you need to get in or out of the garage. They have to push a button from inside to open the gate for you. This was rather annoying... Overall the hotel is OK for people who will spend little time in it and want a great location.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 11 of 39Needs improvement- some substantial
We were drawn to to the Baronne Plaza for their reasonable rates during Jazz Fest weekend and for its convenient downtown location adjacent to the French Quarter. Reviews of the hotel on various websites oddly rated it either dismal or great with little in between. Parking is steep at $30/day. (tip- park at the casino garage 6 blocks away and validate within 24 hours for free parking. You can do this by having a beer or cup of coffee at the nearby brewpub or with a short gaming stint at the casino.) The hotel is in decent shape but is noticeably dingy and could use a good deep cleaning. Carpets and furniture in rooms are stained and there is noticeable dust on most surfaces. Our toilet rocked on its base but was promptly repaired when we notified staff. The kicker that puts our review in the negative category? All electrical power to the hotel failed at 7am on our day of departure. It was restored after a couple of hours but nevertheless the event was quite alarming. More frighteningly, backup emergency lighting did not kick on. The staff's explanation? The backup generator had to be cut off to repair the problem. Nevertheless, guests were left in a dark hotel with little attempt to provide any illumination. Not very confidence inspiring. We were fortunate to have a micro flashlight with us. On a good note, the staff was friendly and mostly helpful but seemed resigned to deal with an aging hotel past its prime and ready for a makeover.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 39Beat up and dirty
This hotel is very run down, with a hole in the hallway wall, broken furniture in the room, musty smelling rooms (we had two as the first one the toilet didn't work) and both rooms were dirty. The quality of the cleaning staff work was poor, they didn't leave items on a couple of occaisions (toilet paper, soap) and things didn't work such as electrical outlet for hairdryer (which they fixed the same day) and the tv remote. If you want a clean room at a reasonable price this is not it. If you are willing to accept a dirty room for a reasonable price then you may consider this. This comes across as a hotel in a good location that is pinching every penny to stay alive.
