Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 120Absolutely wonderful!
My husband and I came into NYC for our first real visit, incredibly exhausted from a long year of graduate school, a week of family visits and graduation, and packing up our things to move across the country. We arrived in town fairly far away from the hotel and lugged 3 bags each across the city, using the subway and getting a little lost. When we walked up to the hotel, it was such that you would almost miss the entrance amongst the shops and people. Needless to say, we were not prepared to love this hotel. From the moment we saw the doorman, however, we were treated so well and felt so lucky that we would use this hotel over any others in NYC for our next visit. The staff was wonderful and allowed us to check in early so we could get cleaned up. We went up to our very nice room and found that we had a terrific view of the Empire State Building! We got great nearby restaurant recommendations from the staff, had a subway stop right near the hotel, and were right in the heart of the city. We had an EXCELLENT stay and highly recommend this hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 120Outstanding Hotel
These folks really go out of their way to be friendly and helpful from giving us restaurant referrals, to how to get around, to helping with any change of plans. They are pleasant, knowledgeable and extremely welcoming. We would welcome staying there again or any other Kimptom for that matter. We also like that they support Dress for Success as we do also and have been quite involved with another closet in the Bay Area of San Francisco. Nice to see a hotel being community minded while still giving excellent service.

The hotel was acceptable, not a lavish find but a great price for a clean, updated environment.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 120Great location, near metro, elegant, small hotel
This hotel is two blocks from the Dupont Circle metro on a residential street. The rooms are decorated nicely and are comfortable. The bathrooms are small, but are fine for one person. Could be a bit tight for two. Hotel has in room system for ipod and a big flat screen tv. Internet was complimentary too! Good value hotel. Hotel supports good causes both environmental and charitable. No work out room, but complimentary wine, coffee, and cookies!

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 120Great Hotel, Lovely Staff, Wonderful Neighborhood
I love Kimpton hotels--this was no exception. Mostly, its the hotel staff. They are always helpful, polite, quick to fix any problem or to help out in any way. I'll get the one drawback out of the way first: Yes, the bathrooms at this hotel are tiny, so if a large bathroom is high on your list, you will be unhappy. Otherwise, the room was large and comfortable. I really liked the location. It was very close to the Dupont Circle subway station. Dupont circle felt very safe, even late at night. There were a lot of people out and about, a lot of good restaurants, book stores, etc. within easy walking distance of the hotel, and the staff gave good recommendations for local restaurants. They serve nice complimentary wine every evening between 5-6pm and coffee in the morning starting at 7am. I get up earlier than that, so they delivered a coffee pot and coffee to my room for my use during my stay, at no charge. One additional slight negative was the level of street noise, even though we were on the 9th floor. I'd ask for a room in the back of the hotel, next time. In all, I would definitely stay here again.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 120Location, Location, Location
Had a wonderful 7 day stay! Went to DC to move my daughter into her dorm at GW and sightsee. Got a great room for a great price! I always try to stay at a Kimpton boutique Hotel. I sometimes travel alone and I like the intimate eclectic feel of a boutique hotel. I feel safe and the staff is always friendly and helpful. (especially Chris and Kevin) The location is just a few short blocks to the Metro and Dupont Circle. Very convenient location to get where you want to go. I flew into Reagan Airport and took the Metro to the hotel! If you need a car, Enterprise is just down the street and you can just return it at the end of the day so you do not have to pay for parking which is $35.00 a day. I bought a DC power pass and was able to walk down the street to catch the bus. I have to admit that the bathroom is small but it fulfilled my needs.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 12 of 120Great Service, Perfect Location, Huge Guest Room
A friend and I just spent the weekend in Washington DC and stayed, for the first time, at a Kimpton property. The Hotel Madera was all that we hoped for plus some. Both Michelle at the front desk, who found us the perfect room in the hotel, and Phillip, who valet parked my car, provided exceptional service. Phillip even went and got my car for me one time just so I could retrieve my sunglasses. And altho the bathroom was a littler smaller than expected, the guest room was much larger than expected. The morning coffee, evening wine sip and late-night cookies and milk in the lobby were all very nice touches. I even enjoyed meeting some adorable pooches who were welcome guests along with their Moms and Dads. Great experience - I'll be back!

Trip Type: Family Review 14 of 120Good, comfortable place to stay
The staff was amazingly helpful. Hotel was good for the price. Room was big, clean and comfortable. I was not so wild about Dupont Circle, I had read in other reviews that it was a fun and lively neighborhood....not really, in fact, quiet neighborhood. The hotel is near the metro and lots of taxis around so that made things easy. There is a Starbucks one block away which was also a good convience to have. I did not love the much written about Kramers books and cafe next door---it was not lively and looked dated and dirty. Pretty had to head to Georgetown for dinner at night.
