Trip Type: Special Event Review 2 of 18Party in room above until 1am.
Loud music, people jumping around and screaming... not a scenario usually expected at a Fairmont hotel. After the party started, it took 3 calls to the fron desk and over an hour for the disturbance to stop. No apologies from the management. No response from manager to email. Very poor customer service!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 18Mediocre stay
The room was clean. The television kept losing satellite signal, even after they reset it twice (gave up on it). The hotel also required a hundred-dollar deposit for the room, which I thought strange. The crowd can be a little rowdy on the weekends I guess. I would only recommend this hotel if someone needed to be located within walking distance of the downtown area.

Bug in bed when I awoke one morning. Hotel made good faith effort to check it out, but claims there's no problem in the room.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 18Unaware of Valet Parking Fees
It was a nice hotel, but we were unaware that the only parking alternative was valet. We paid $26 each day to park plus tips to retrieve our car multiple times each day. Had I known, I would have selected a different hotel.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 7 of 18Tired and dirty
What a disappointment for a 4 star. The lobby funiture was filthy. The funiture elsewhere was tired. We were in the new tower. It did not meet our expectations.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 10 of 18The Fairmont...at least Motel 6 has free parking...
The Fairmont is overrated...some people might say it's a "historic hotel"...I believe that only applies to the toilets in the main building rooms which look like they belong in a gas station restroom...The hallways are like saunas...I called the front desk...no answer...I called down to the parking garage...no answer...I called the parking garage again...it took a long time for them to answer...I told them I was coming down to get my car...I got down there and it took forever to get my car... The hotel's "Sunday Brunch" is okay, but not worth the price...and the "dress code" is a joke...a dress code to eat overpriced salty and cold buffet food...really?... The Fairmont might be a historic nice hotel in San Francisco, but it's just a name in San Jose...

Trip Type: Romance Review 11 of 18Not the hotel we expected..
Being that the Fairmont has the reputation of being the premier hotel in San Jose, we went in with high expectations. Unfortunately, it seems that unless you are the President of teh United States and staying in the penthouse, you will likely get a room without internet service or functioning TV. When we raised the concern to the staff, we were told none of the rooms in our building had functioning internet service- we would have to move to another building (at 2 in the morning) and we would not be able to have another king room. Needless to say, we were more than disappointed in this "4 star" hotel and will not be making any return trips.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 13 of 18Needs a remodel
Older hotel that needs a complete make over. Didnt feel very clean in the room so I made sure I wore my slippers the entire time. When I went to wash my hands the nobs were crusty so I used a small towel to turn the water on and off. Hallways are creepy and the wallpaper makes you dizzy. Location and service was good.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 18Shockingly Bad
I had stayed in this hotel a month previous for one night with no problems and left with an overall good impression. My experience this time was appalling. When we tried to check in after an long, exhausting flight, our reservation was not found. Instead of being concerned about this, or acting as though it was a problem the hotel could sort out, we were treated with suspicion. I got the impression they didn't believe we had a reservation. For a four-star hotel (or even a two or three star hotel) I expect service that is welcoming and understanding. A four-star hotel should have an attitude of generosity and welcome. This is not what happened. Later, one of the front desk staff told me many people had problems with their reservations, as if to make me feel better. But my question is, if you know many of guests are having these problems, why don't you help them, or reassure them? Finally, after 45 minutes from midnight to 12:45am at the front desk, we were put in a room with beds too small for a couple to share, despite our reserving a King bed, and it was in another tower. This other tower is totally different from the main tower of the hotel. You are exiled from the main hotel, you have to use a card key to access the building, and then the elevator. For us, the keys didn't work in the elevator. Also, the rooms in this other tower are far inferior to the rooms in the main building. The other tower should be considered a different and lower-quality hotel. We had a wonderful encounter with a front desk person on the first morning of our stay. He was everything you would want in an employee, and he offered the kind of service you should expect at a first-rate hotel. He found us a room in the main tower with a regular bed. But the air conditioning didn't work in the new room. We called for days (this was a four-night stay) and finally, on our last day, the air was fixed. Though even getting the air fixed was a trial. The mechanic who fixed the a
