Redefining cheap

I arrived at the hotel at 2:00 in the afternoon. When I tried to check in, the hotel clerk looked at his watch and told me that check in was at 3:00. But, for an additional $10.00, he could "allow" me to check in early. I had absolutely no choice because my room was a prepay with no refunds and I had to be downtown by 3:30 and this hotel is VERY far from downtown Kansas City. I have NEVER been charged to check in a little early in my life! The lobby was old and not very attractive but, the room, even though small, was fine. I would NEVER use a Microtel hotel again because of their early check in fees. I think they have truly redefined cheap and outrageous.

Felt Cheap

I do not want to sound negative because the hotel was okay but the hotel just felt cheap. There was no shampoo, hand lotion, bath items in the room. I felt like the owner was just trying to save a dollar instead of providing a service. The room seemed outdated. Now it was clean and when I had a problem in my room it was fixed immediately.

bed bugs or fleas

I was disappointed in the appearance of the interior, compared to other Microtels. It needs some maintenance. My children had multiple bites on their bodies from either bed bugs or fleas in their bed. Yuck! The bedding did not appear to be very clean, either.

Too small

The room was very small for 2 people. Smaller than a cruise ship room.

Very Limited Parking

The motel barely has enough parking spots for the rooms they have, but they also rent their spaces for park and fly. The weekend we stayed there, they only had 3 rooms unoccupied, but there was no parking. People were parked along the sides in place where they could be hit extremely easily. When we got back from the wedding we attended, there were no spots. The girl at the desk suggested to the guy who drives the shuttle bus to let us have his spot, and he said no way. That was the absolute wrong answer. The paying guests should always get the spot and the shuttle bus can park out on the road. Also, the girl working the front desk didn't smile, nor greet her guests. It was as if we were an imposition taking her time to check us in and out.

Attention to Detail

Hotel personnel was friendly and attentive. Rooms needed attention to cleanliness and maintenance. Location was very convenient to airport and price was a good value.

Tiny room, bed bugs, not good.

Needs Improvement

3:00 check in? Had to pay extra for an 11:00 checkin! No hot water in bathroom sink. Room key constantly when out. Really comfy bed.

Will never stay there again

The bed was very comfortable but the top bedding was not clean. Also I had a dvd player with me and four dvd's and it was stolen out of my room. I have yet to receive a response from the hotel mangt.

Terrible Customer Service

My mother and I stayed at the Microtel Inn & Suites - KCI Airport for the 4th of July weekend. My mother flew up from Florida to see me because I am in the Army and about to deploy. She wanted to spend a weekend with me before I left and when she checked into the hotel the owner was very rude to her. She got to the hotel about 2 hours prior to the check in time and was going to be charged $10 if you wanted to check in early. That is a rediculous charge for a check in time 2 hours prior. My mom waited in the lobby until the check in time and when she checked in our room wasnt cleaned very well, there was still trash under the beds and there was a frozen beer in our freezer. When I arrived at the hotel a few hours later I needed to do my laundry since I had been in training all week for deployment. I asked the owner if there was laundry detergent that I could purchase to do my laundry in the hotel laundry room. She said no but that they had some for free and got it for me. When she got it out of the laundry room for me she spilled it all over the counter and left it there. She told me that I didnt see her do it and just walked away. I needed to get quarters to do my laundry and asked the front desk clerk if he had change for a $5 bill and he did not. So my mom and I walked to the gas station down the street to get quarters. I started my laundry and told the clerk at the front desk that someone should clean up the spilled laundry detergent in the laundry room, and explained to him that the owner had spilled it earlier. He sent a maintenance guy to clean it up. After about an hour I went to switch my laundry to the dryer and one of the other guests had taken my clothes and thrown them on the counter in a pile. The guest that took my clothes out had already washed a load of laundry and was putting it in the dryer and filling the washer again. i informed the guest that those were my military uniforms and they still needed dryed, he said yes because they were still wet, an

Early morning noise

The noise from the hallway and doors made sleeping impossible at 6 AM.

Not a 4 star hotel, but inexpensive

dissapointed in the quality of the hotel. I was expecting something like Hampton Inn or La Quinta and it is not nearly as nice. It is more equivalent to a Red Roof Inn Motel.

Loud

Walls paper thin. Could hear everything being said in next room. Heard every sound in Hotel.
