Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 37Decent but not great for the money
Hotel location is great, and staff is very frindly. However, the bed was pretty hard and uncomfortable, and the bathroom was in bad shape (not dirty!) -needed a lot of maintenance work.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 37Good Location but not very comfortable
The hotel location is really good. Directly at Robson Street in Downtown Vancouver and also close to Stanley Park. The view from one of the upper floors is also great. But still the hotel did not meet our expectations. It's quite old and the rooms would need some renovation to get them up to date. The breakfast in the (nice) restaurant on the top floor was also nothing special. If we wouldn't have got coupons for that we would have gone there. Considering what we had to pay for our rooms the hotel didn't meet our expectations. All in all: Next time we would choose another hotel.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 3 of 37Not worth the price
The staff was friendly, and if you want to check out Stanley Park the location was GREAT... however, we were paying way too much for the quality of the hotel. Everything looked like it was stuck in the 70s. It needed some upgrading for sure! The view from our room was lovely though! I wouldn't stay here next time... probably would spend a little more for a classier place.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 4 of 37Room stunk like bad air freshener
I would stay at this hotel again except for the overwhelming smell of bad air freshener in our room. It was so strong that we could taste it. The location near Stanley Park and Robson Street along with the fantastic views from every direction were a definite plus. We were on the 20th floor. We brought our bikes and the location was convenient to both Stanly Park and the seawall bike path to the False Creek/Grandville area. You must have a drink or dinner in the revolving restaurant up 43 stories on top to enjoy the view. There is no cover charge if you are staying a the hotel. The room furnishings. bathroom etc haven't been replaced since the '80s although the bed was comfortable and the duvet covers were new. The room was large too. The service was fine although we mostly had contact with the bell boy to get our bikes out of storage. He was great.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 37Nice location, but rooms are sub-par for the price
The Empire Landmark Hotel is in a great location along Robson Street in downtown Vancouver. It's an easy walk to downtown shopping, the waterfront, and Stanley Park. The view from the hotel rooms is exceptional. However, the condition of the rooms was disappointing. It appears that the hotel has not been modernized in over 20 years. The colors and furnishings were outdated and worn. When comparing the condition of the room to other similarly priced hotels in the Pacific NW, the Empire Landmark falls very short of memorable.

The hotel was decent, it just did not meet my expectations. It is a worn hotel, with chips and scuffs in the details. It was clean, and it had a fitness room and jacuzzi. We tried the breakfast buffet, and I did not think that the food was that good, and by the time I got to my seat with it, it was tepid at best. My expectations were higher because of the location, and because with the Olympics coming very soon, I would have thought they would be stepping up their game.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 8 of 37Needs Improvement. Outdated. Costly for the Price. Small.
We choose this hotel for the price. It was one of the cheaper hotels in downtown Vancouver. However, I wish we had spent just a bit more money for something much nicer. The room and entire hotel was very outdated. The bed was not comfortable and the room just had a dirty feel. One plus was that we were on the 24th floor and had a great view of the city. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until they update the hotel and give it a modern feel. It's stuck in the 1970's and looks and feels that way. All the other reviews that say this, too, are right. Spend just a little more money and stay someplace else. I promise you won't regret doing that and can ensure that you will regret staying at this hotel. There weren't many restaurants within walking distance. The hotel's restaurant is very, very expensive, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Stay someplace else.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 37Adequate.... No more than that
The Empire Landmark is indeed a hotel that could stand a thorough renovation. Of course that would mean the price would escalate to cover the required costs. The cost can be considered low if in the mid60sUSD for the location but not the condition of a standard room. If you see it more than that, look elsewhere. Add another 10Can/night for parking if you have a car as it is NOT included despite what previous posts may have indicated. The location was good, the staff reasonable and attentive, the views excellent, the bathroom marginal. The area is walkable and most close by is trending toward Asian as is the hotel clientele. This is not the trendy/ritzy part of Robson street if there even is that anymore...

Hotel location was very good. But hotel is quite old. You can feel it everywhere inside hotel. My room key never worked. I always got it opened by calling somebody from reception. Room looks old. Although city view from the higher floors of the hotel is fantastic. But I think the hotel needs renovation.

Great location, just needs to be renovated. Loved the size of the room, nice view. Lobby area seemed up to date. Staff was nice. Amazing japanese restaurant across the street!

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 37Disappointing!
Hotel was in great location, but that was really all it had going for it. At the price it was for a room for a night I was expecting at least some of the things in the room to be at least exceptional, but really there was nothing. Everything looked dirty, the door to the balcony didn't lock, our TV was small even though the cabinet it was in could have fit one much larger. Really they could take the extra bit of effort to make the rooms at least a little more comfortable, but it seems like they don't even try. Also, you can hear all the water running through the entire hotel, so sleeping in in the morning is NOT an option. The view you get from a room up high is wonderful, but they have a restaurant that you can experience that from also. The restaurant I only recommend going to at night, it looked beatiful then. But in the light of day it too looked dusty and neglected.

Trip Type: Family Review 15 of 37Empire Landmark Hotel
The location was great, the hotel was okay, and the staff were great. But it's an old hotel and the elevator broke down one day (they are upgrading the elevators), there were a couple of leaks from the bathroom above into our bathroom- icky-, there was only one place to eat in the hotel, and there was no swimming pool. It seemed rather expensive for these limitations.
