Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 11Rude
Checking in was very rude, our daughter arrived 45 minutes before we did and asked if they had a restroom she could use, they informed her that only if she was a paying guest! She waited in the parking lot for us with her two small children. It was a hot day! They should have let them use the restroom! We had 3 rooms booked with them!

The room has great amenities but the hotel is incapable of elimanating the cigarette smell. The hotel uses excess air freshner to try and cover the smoking up, but it does not work. Makes matters worse.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 11Overpriced!
We stayed one night, experienced the food at the Steakhouse downstairs, gambled in the casino and tried the spa out the next morning. This hotel offers very new, clean rooms with an excellent shower but the view from your room will be less than expected and the noise in the hallway and from surrounding rooms is rediculous. There is no sound proofing between walls or to diminish the hallway noise. We could hear the shower running next door, people talking to each other like they were in the same room with us and wheels from suitcases going up and down the hallway all night. Very strange to pay that much money for a "nice" hotel but it was built very cheap with no insulation! The wall to wall window would have been great if there was something outside worth looking at and the train ran all night long. The food at the Steakhouse was amazing! The filet was really expensive but well worth it because it melted in your mouth. There was no selection when it came to places to eat though. You have either the buffet, a really expensive steakhouse or a deli... So if you expect a nice, sit down restaraunt, you're only choice is the Steakhouse. The casino is very small with a rediculous amount of slot machines, but only 2 craps tables, 2 roulette tables, a few poker tables, one bar, one pop machine and no video blackjack which was very disappointing considering that's all I like to play if I go gamble. We will not be back to gamble and will continue to frequent the other casinos in town on 210 hwy. I would be surprised if this place makes it much longer because they can't compete with the other larger, nicer casinos and hotels nearby. My boyfriend liked the massage he received at the spa but it was very expensive as well and was the same quality as any other massage I've bought him before but twice as expensive. I don't think we'll be back. Hotel is expensive, food is lacking in variety and way too expensive, casino is too small with no variety and spa was way overpriced as well.

Trip Type: Business Review 5 of 11Nice hotel BUT...
I am never pleased with inconsistent service. The check-in staff was great but the 2 women at the counter later were not willing to help or extend themselves beyond their "required" duties. Not much in terms of customer service! I was also not pleased with having to pay extra for internet in a casino hotel. Finally, there was not a pool, sauna, or whirlpool! I will say that the gym was awesome!

Hotel Staff lacks hospitality & cust. service. Spacious bathrooms, best feature are the Rain Showers w/ faucets in the ceiling and the wall. Crab legs at Terrace buffet were outstanding. They gave us wrong room at check in, then the 2nd room was correct except the carpets were soaking wet, 3rd room was finally correct. Housekeeping came into our room while we were in bed on 2nd day even though our do not disturb sign/light was on. Internet in the room didn't work, front desk said they'd remove the charge. Didn't get an itemized invoice in room on morning of checkout, at front desk during check out I reviewed the bill & the internet charge and the food we charged to the room (that was supposed to be comped because of bad check in) had been charged to my visa. Front desk attendant was less than excited to assist with the problem, after 30-45minutes of "discussion" she figured out that something was wrong in the computer system. Just was not a pleasant experience for us at all.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 11Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa in Riverside
I had a seminar to attend at another location in Independence, MO. The commute was great. No real traffic problems. We picked this hotel so that my travel partner would have something to do while I was in my meetings all day. The Argosy lets their patrons smoke inside the hotel, pretty much everywhere. We do not smoke. My friend's father has lung cancer b/c of cigarettes. The Argosy does not warn you about the stinky smelling cigarette smoke everywhere. We nearly had asthmatic attacks every time we left our room. The smoke was that bad! I really believe they need to change their policy about smoking indoors. It smelled like a "cancer stick" every where. It was very hard to enjoy the hotel and we never made it to the casino, the gym or the spa. The bathrooms were awesome and the cleanliness of the hotel was awesome. It was nice to see staff visibly always cleaning something. The food in the restaurants was great! By the way there is no swimming pool on site. Therefore, no where for kids to go and do anything. Do not go to the Argosy if you do not smoke. You will not enjoy the hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 11Nice hotel, needs improvement
The room was comfortable, the restaurants in the hotel/casino were great. Although our house keeping light was on, our room was skipped over 3 days in a row by housekeeping. There are no bellman available to help with luggage. When we asked the manager about that we were told they hadn't hired any. We had to ask for a crib 3 times, although we had called a week prior to request one. After traveling all day with a baby, the last thing you want to do is wait for a crib as your child screams. Beautiful hotel, nice casino, nice room. Argosy is trying to be a 5 star hotel. If they could get their service team on track, they might just get there...

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 11Hope you are not in a hurry during your stay!
One way in One way out this hotel, not to mention the busiest railroad in KS that constantly keeps you waiting to enter or exit. One wait was in excess of 25 mins. Hope you are not in a hurry during your stay. You would think a bridge or underpass would have been in the blueprint out of respect for the customer!

Trip Type: Special Event Review 10 of 11Okay Hotel
Because this hotel was a casino, you could smoke anywhere besides the smoke free room. So if you don't like the smell of smoke, I wouldn't stay here. Everywhere I went in this hotel I could smell smoke, which was very discomforting. On the other side of things; the bed was comfortable, room was great and so was the shower.
