Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 13Worst place I ever stayed
The hotel was very outdated and the room had a very strong mold smell. We had to leave the door open as long as we could. The "guest bathroom" on the 4th floor was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. We checked out after the second night and was told by the hotel that Hotel.com was refunded for the last night but we have not seen a refund yet. Would not recomend Schooner Inn or Hotel.com to anyone.

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 13Needs to be torn down and rebuilt
It was an extremely old facility that was misrepresented with the pictures shown on their website. There were dead bugs in the bathroom and one of the bathtub wall panels was protruding at least 2-3 inches away from the wall. The towels were dingy and felt like a scouring pad when drying off. The floors were dirty, the bedspreads were torn and the room smelled. There were cigarette burns on the rug. We were very disappointed in the physical appearance and it was not disclosed that jets were flying overhead every ten minutes all day until midnight. Apparently this was a regular occurrence according to locals. We should get some type of a refund because we certainly didn't get our monies worth for what we paid to stay at this place and really shouldn't be called a hotel or inn.

unable to provide adequate heat, old televisions with only 3 channels. The only good thing was the view. During the night when there is a wind, you hear a loud constant howling outside your door preventing one from sleeping.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 13bare bones 4 thrifty people
Definitely a 2 star location; not bad, but not a place you can brag about to your friends either. Great location with a balcony overlooking the boardwalk and the beach; the sound of the ocean lapping on the beach put us to sleep at night; we kept food in the fridge to have a great breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean; I would go again anytime but I can't recommend it to friends because they would criticize me for going on the cheap; the decor is that if a cheap motel of the 70's, very basic; one of the two elevators broke down the night we arrived and was still broken when we left four days later. You can't impress your girlfriend or spouse with this motel but if you just want a place to sleep, shower, and enjoy the beach and all that Va beach has to offer, paying way less than the hotel next door down the boardwalk, go for it.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 13Hell on Earth
First off I was at a joint war fighting conferene at the va beach convention center and I did not look very hard for accomodations. So this is my fault for staying here. I checked in on Sunday around 3 pm and was greeted by a nice girl who I never saw again. I was first issued a card to room 527 the door and card reader were so rusty the door would not open. Finally an hour later they did something so i could go in. I wanted to take a nap however the room was 89 degrees yes 89 degrees. There are sensors in the rooms that measure body temperature before the so called air conditioning will operate. Numerous things did not work such as mentioned below. I called and was moved to 525 this was not much better. Now I know what you are thinking why didnt you just check out and leave. I would have however I was told by the front desk no refunds sorry. At 140 per nights I just wasted nearly a grand. Here are the main highlights of why I do not recommend this motel. I was Charged for 5 days only stayed 4 I was told there is nothing we can do call hotels.com. They do not give receipts after you check out. So who knows what you actually pay for. No air conditioning ( The best i could get is 75 degrees) I opened the duct and the filter was black and mildewed. You know how the ones for the house are supposed to be white or blue. Rude Staff they answer phone call after phone call and make you wait until they are done instead of asking the caller to hold. The mini refrigerator in the room did not work The water pressure was very weak. Hence it took nearly 45 minutes to fill the hot tub. The humidity is so great in the room that there is a layer of moisture over everything. The AC rattled and leaked condensation. The furniture is so old and outdated that the laminate is peeling off. The towels and sheets on the bed are as rough as sandpaper. The cable television is not bad however I could only get 5 channels. So if you are on vacation and it starts to rain you better bring a dec

The A/C cannot be controlled - off or on only. The bathroom had a very dirty towel on the floor behind the door. The walls were very thin.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 13"Needs Improvement",
We called the hotel to see if they had a room so we could start our Vac. early and there computers were down and would be back up soon, but they said to come on up they would have the room. We got there four and a half hours later and went to check in, we told them that we had a room for four nights and wanted to stay in that same room, they said that it was open and we could stay all five nights in the same room so we unpacked and started to get cufie. well the next morring the front deck called to ask us why we had not checked out yet..... Then thay told us to move all our stuff to another room. We refused because they had told us that we would have that same room for our compleate stay. There were no dead bolts on the doors that conected the room beside of us and the dead bolt on the front door did not work as we fond out when one of the hotel staff walked into our room, over seeing the "do not disturb" sign on the door, we had just stepped out of the shower and were beginning to dress.

The staff was very nice and informative. The room was definately not as clean as I thought that it would be. The bathroom is small and the whole room was dirty along the bottom of the walls and the floor. I paid for a non-smoking but the room definately had been smoked in. The parking was good, we could see our car right below our balcony. If you take kids on your trip make sure to bring your stroller. The hotel is at the very end of the strip and it is quite a walk to get to restaurants and stores. I wish that I went with a hotel in the middle of the strip.
