Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 12Avoid this hotel
The rooms are tiny, tiny and you need instructions on how to turn the ancient TV on and off, and I never did figure out how to change the channels. The bed had a futon-like mattress, which means hard as a rock. The only positive about the hotel is its location. Avoid this hotel.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 12Poor Room
I felt like it was a closet would describe in a few words. The lady at the reception was border rude and certainly not helpfull. It was my understanding I was booking a room with a queen or king bed and end up with a full bed as it is really all they could fit in this extremely small room!

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 12Rooms very small
I've been in tight quarters before but the size of these rooms for the price I paid is unreasonable. You're practically sleeping next to the comode, not the most romantic situation. The building was well restored and maintained and in a good location except that the nearest parking garage was three blocks away. Next time I'm in Boston I believe I can do much better for the money.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 12Not bad, but not great
We just came back from a stay at the Charlesmark. The best part was the location: close to anything you might need and across the street from the T (subway), which can take you almost everywhere. The hotel is clean and well kept and the neighborhood is upscale and very pretty. However, the room we had was tiny (had a gigantic bathroom, though) and we felt sort of claustrophobic. Also, the parking garage the hotel has a deal with was 5 or 6 blocks away, a pain in the neck if you want to go anywhere not accessible by the T. The size of the room was really the clincher for us -- we were prepared for small, but not that small.

Great location, but definitely better for young weekend visitors. Bare bones staff was friendly but not very professional. Rooms were tiny, hallways were narrow and warren-like.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 12Needs improvement
I checked in, got my key, went to the room and when I opened the door, it looked as though someone was already staying there-either that or no one had taken the time to clean/redo the room (this was around 8:00 pm). When I entered the (second) room, someone had turned the temperature as high as it would go and turned the fans/blowers to high-it was like a steam bath. Very noisy-I was on the 5th floor back and I could hear loud music playing almost all night long. I requested a 6:30 am wake up call and a taxi for 8:30 am. I got no wake up call and no taxi.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 12Rm 607
Don't stay in Rm. 607. There's no heat in the room. I slept two hours with my overcoat on and under the covers. The next morning I had to plead to get a room change, and forget a partial refund on the freezing room.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 12Great Location; Staff Not So Much
On the good side - The John Singer Sargent Murals in the Boston Public Library (right across the street) are a must see and totally free. Nice classical music playing on the sound system when we entered the room; we kept it on the whole time. Fluffy pillows. Windows opened! On the bad side - Hotel staff stood in front of the complimentary continental breakfast and hogged the whole counter grabbing their own breakfasts while we waited...insulting. No help or advice from staff whatsoever on tourist attractions, getting around town. Couldn't even drum up a pack of matches for me. No fridge in room. Bathroom so small and shelf above toilet precarious. Had to sacrifice a lipstick that fell in toilet.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 12Not impressed
The stay was very nice and courteous so I have no complaint about them. But the room was not the best. The room was very load at night, I could hear fans and motors running in the walls and ceilings. But worst off, was the room stunk of cigarettes and brunt wood. The bed mattress was so bad that the it was almost impossible to sleep in the bed. The chair in the room was also bad, but somewhat more tolerable. Perhaps other rooms aren't so bad, so if you end up with room 505, ask for another.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 12Needs Major Improvement
I was so disappointed with the hotel. We were in a room where you could hear all the noise from the private parties held outside our door in the lounge and bar area. My husband and I spent 2 nights with very little sleep. We complained to the front desk and they hung up on us. I eventually got us moved to a new room which was better but all I received was an apology for the noise.
