Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 24Not worth the money
Beware: 24 dollar valet parking. Rooms have a huge gap between the door and the floor meaning that you hear EVERYTHING going on in the corridor. AC kept blowing right in our face during the night. Not very comfortable. No hot water for several minutes in the shower, meaning you have to plan ahead. Old hotel, supposedly very European style, but coming from Europe I must say that this hotel was a huge disappointment. Will NOT stay there again. Poor value!

Trip Type: Romance Review 2 of 24Old Hotel
We ended up leaving this hotel at 1:45 am and checking out. The "King" bed was a double and extremely uncomfortable. We were on the 19th floor and could hear everything going on in the streets below. It was horrible!! We checked out and drove home.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 24Not My Cup of Tea
It was a beatiful Hotel and lived up to the mystic of being an old hotel. We were not happy with the maid service. Linens were not changed. A diffenent No No in my book. The Dallas downtown area is a dump. We did not feel safe or comfortable walking around and the smell out on the steets in the surrounding area was horrible. Dallas is a great city and I expected more from its downtown area. We also thought parking was included but had to pay approximately $50 for a two night stay. We will not go back and I cannot recommend it. There are so many other better places to stay.

Trip Type: Business Review 6 of 24Rooms need to be updated
This was my fourth stay at the Adolphus and I was rather disappointed. Unlike the room I had during my last stay, the room I stayed in this time was outdated, the bed covers were worn, and housekeeping did a poor job on the cleaning. While I really like the overall feel of this grand hotel, I might not come back again unless the room quality improves significantly.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 7 of 24Old hotel, old rooms.......
My daughter and I checked in for a week's stay. We found stained bedding, scarred furniture and a smelly room. I have stayed at older hotels but never have I seen one in such disrepair. When we brought this to the attention of the manager, we were given a new room on one of their upper floors which was poorly laid out and furniture had to be brought in to accommodate our clothing. Yes, the room did not have a dresser! Very disappointing. I would not stay here again because there are too many other great hotels in Dallas.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 24"We'll Take Your Money"
We were charged 25.00 because they said we ate something off of the mini bar... which we did not. We were also charged a fee of $80.00 in addition to the price of our room at check-in. THe $80.00 was not refunded to my bank account until 5 dys later. I will not go back or reccommend this hotel to anyone.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 24Great...except for one thing
We stayed in the Deluxe room. Great location...nice waterfall shower, old CRT television, bed linens were comfortable, but the mattress padding was a little thin on top (could feel the springs a bit). Well-stocked mini-bar. Biggest complaint is that this hotel doesn't allow Texas Concealed Handgun License holders to carry concealed within the hotel. This is utterly ridiculous, expecially given the fact this is downtown in a major city. For this reason, I won't return, and I will tell friends to steer clear for the same reason. They weren't even clued-in enough to post a proper 30.06 sign. Unfortunate.

Trip Type: Romance Review 10 of 24Very Antique Hotel
This is a very historical and antique setting. I was not prepared for this being that I usually stay at contemporary, boutique type hotels. Everything looks like it was 100 years old. Overall, it was a very clean. I enjoyed the lounge and live band. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The location is perfect. This is not a hotel for the young crowd.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 24Old, run down hotel
After following a labyrith to find our Junior Suite which was large, as promised, but filthy! The room furniture was heavily stained and their were visible stains on the linens! Because this was a week long stay, I called to register my dismay at the condition of the room and we were very graciously switched to another room that was on their top floor. Again, the room was large, but not particularly user friendly. They had to find a dresser for us because they only had 3 drawers in the TV cabinet. The cleaning staff did little more than make the beds each day. Water marks stayed on the glass table tops all week. We asked for two bath sheets and got 8 hand towels, each evening when we had to order ice and glasses they brought every kind of glass but a cocktail one, one night they delivered a cheese tray and expensive bottle of wine instead of our ice and glasses (when I pointed out that the card was for someone else, they left it, which was nice, but I don't drink wine!). Although the rooms were large, they are not comfortable nor well arranged. All in all, we were disappointed with this hotel. It is certainly not what we expected from such a well regarded old standard.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 24Don't waste your money
Reserved a room with two beds. Upon arrival, I was informed that they were out of rooms with two beds. After telling the desk person that there must be some mistake because I reserved the room well in advance and reserved two beds. She stated that they ran out of rooms with two beds at 2:30 p.m. (check in is at 3:00p.m.). We had no choice but to stay as the room had been paid for already. The rollaway cot finally arrived three (3) hours later with a sheet and no pillow. Housekeeping informed us they were out of pillows. When we opened the room door, our breath was taken away by a strong odor of bleach. The thermostat would not control the temperaure and we would alternate from freezing to sweating. The mattress on the bed had to be original to the hotel. Each time we wanted the car, it would take at least thirty minutes to arrive. We gave up one morning and took a taxi. We will definately NOT stay at this hotel again. Next time, I will save over one half on the price and stay somewhere where our business is apreciated and we are not treated as an imposition.

Trip Type: Romance Review 13 of 24Adolphus Valentine's Weekend
The price point for the Adolphus was excellent at Hotels.com However, the room was not as described on the site, and the parking fee charged was almost 10% higher than reported on the site. The room needed improvement. Wait staff at restuarants wonderful.

Trip Type: Romance Review 14 of 24Disappointing
The Adolphus used to be 5-star and I expected an experience that reflected their desire to recapture that fifth star. Instead, I can now see why they've slipped. The sheets and comforter were too small for the bed, the robes were too small (for a slender male and an athletic female), the toilet flushes weakly and takes four tries to get anything down, the toiletries smell cloying and cheap, and the wrong room service order was brought up (we wrote it on the order form, so it was clearly their mix-up. The customer service was lovely, but the lack of attention to detail was truly unnerving. Also, we could hear the couple ACROSS the HALL having loud sex several times from night until the next morning. I would understand next door, but across the hall seems like poor sound engineering. Some pros: the lounging areas in the lobby are very inviting and glamorous, we asked for a different room after getting one with a terrible view and they were totally accommodating, the bathrooms are nice (except the dark beige tub and toilet), and the staff are all very nice. I was very excited to spend Valentine's weekend here, and I was really disappointed that it didn't live up to my expectations. It's obviously not a terrible hotel, but with its reputation I expected much better.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 15 of 24Nice hotel - A little disappointed
The hotel was beautiful. We stayed there for our 10th Wedding Anniversary on 12/19. However, the only casual place to dine was closed for a private party which was very inconvenient since we had to then leave to eat. Also, they were having another private party in the ballroom and there were not near enough valet parking attendants to take care of the crowd. We had to wait a long time to get our car and had to walk down the block to pick it up. Not very good service for a fine hotel. Overall it was nice, but not sure if I would go there again.
