Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 243Great potential
This hotel and my room had the feeling of a college dorm and the room was very reminiscent of a dorm room or a Mom and Pop motel. I was told I had received an "up-grade" in being given this room. Free Wi-Fi was much appreciated. The room itself was extremely tiny with a miniature, awkward closet (no skirt hangars), a "pull out" desk platform and folding chair. Two small drawers are built into the platform bed. No handles were on the drawers when I arrived, but they were promptly installed when I told them I could not find, or open, the drawers. The lighting in the room was very poor, but adequate. The room seemed clean, although the small sofa in the room was stained. The tiny bathroom and shower was very nice and a good point of the room, until the last day when the glass shower door had been removed and replaced with an opaque plastic curtain and there was zero water pressure (shower not possible). I had not been forewarned that this would happen during my stay and there was no apology (or reimbursement) for my significant inconvenience. There is a little breakfast nook adjacent to the bar which is very pleasant and a continental breakfast is very basic and uninspired. The staff is nice enough and the location is great. It is a friendly place and it felt more or less safe. However, in most other locations it would be worth one-third to half of what it cost during my stay.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 243Location, location, location!
10-minute walk from Public Gardens, 25 from South Station. Copley subway station on the corner 1/2-block away. Dunkin Donuts in next block outbound, and next block inbound has Citizens Bank, CVS, Burger King. Continental breakfast is certainly nothing to write home about, but the Copley Fairmount across the square provides all the alternative anyone could want (but at a price). Sure, the rooms are small, but if it's just one or two of you, this can't be beat if you can get a deal on the price. It will be my go-to choice in the future.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 5 of 243Lovely Boutique Hotel
Walking distance to the Back Bay Station where I came in. The room was small and cozy - I liked the placement of the stereo speakers - built into the walls and also in the bathroom ceiling. I did not have a view (brick wall and sky) but appreciated that it was in a row of adjacent buildings. You may luck out and get front or back but I had a room on the side. But I was not there to stay in my hotel room, and the price was good, so I was OK without a view. The television (cable included) could also play through them as I got ready for my day. The T is nearby and the stop is smack-dab between the 2 places I wanted to visit - the Museum of Fine Art in one direction and the Museum of Science in the other. I was pleased and the Chinese Restaurant downstairs, though slightly overpriced, was good. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 243Outstanding Location and Value
I will definitely be coming back to this hotel. The rooms were fantastic; very clean, modern, more spacious than I thought they would be considering the other reviews, and the window opened above the street so we got great views of the Public Library and downtown. Loved the surround sound and option to play digital music and our own DVD's. The location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic, and you can walk just a short distance to anywhere downtown. We made it to Cambridge in less than half an hour. If you prefer to take the subway, the stops are right across the street(inbound) and 50ft down the street (outbound). Free breakfast, internet, and premium cable an added plus for the value+location of the hotel!

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 243Great Find
Great location, comfortable accomodations, and friendly staff. Staff made extra efforts to make sure we enjoyed our stay including locking up our bags so we wouldn't have to drag them around while we waited for our room (we arrived early) and recommending restaurants in the area (that were actually good and not overpriced.) Rooms are small but fine (as long as you like your traveling companion)- and the special additions like built-in surround sound, trendy decor, a Boston guide book to borrow, and free bottled water made up for it. The main selling point is the location- right by Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, Copely subway station, and all the bars and restaurants in the Back Bay. You can easily walk to Fenway Park too. The price is very reasonable for a nice hotel in a good location in Boston. Would definitely stay there again and will recommend to others.

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. If I ever go back to Boston I will most defiantly stay at the Charlesmark again.

One of the best locations in Boston, rooms are a bit small, average breakfast, decent staff, and clean rooms. Average.
