Staff was very accommodating. However, there was a definite musty smell in the rooms. The room was clean, and the bedding very nice; but still there was that presence of mustiness which to me signals molds and my allergies reacted accordingly.

Hotel oceanfront view had a great location but the room quality was real poor and the breakfast in the morning was below average. I was glad that I statyed for a weekend and not a week.

Of the places I've stayed in the outer banks, this wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. For the cost of the room I expected better accomodations. The carpet and the bathroom should be updated. I'm big on clean bathrooms. Unfortunately it's not a place I will stay in the future. However, the staff at the front desk were very friendly.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 16Not nice at all. Not sure how it got good reviews
I expected a lot better for a hotel on the beach. It was a hotel/motel. My room ended up being up this set of outdoor rickety wooden stairs. The room was very dated and the bathroom was tiny and in poor condition. The entire room smelled very musty (as did my parents rooms). Bath tub drain did not work. floors were dirty...my sons white socks were black after walking on the carpet. I would not stay here again ever. I should have complained and asked for a refund.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 5 of 16Small room
Size of room for the money was not adequate. Bathroom so small, no place to put essentials. Had to store suitcase on top of safe.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 7 of 16Possible mold issues
Main lobby and breakfast room/sitting area were very nice. We stayed in room 129, closest to the door out to the oceanfront. The odor in the room was horrible. There were definately some mold issues, possibly in/under the carpet which looked like it should have been replaced 10+ years ago.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 10 of 16What the????
I know I got a cheap hotel room, so wasn't expecting bells and whistles but is was off season so I was expecting good service. The staff was so-so. I was given a room roughly the size of a closet, a view of the hotel next door and a bathroom with only a shower, no tub. When I checked in promptly at 4, I was exhuasted and wanted to take a nap. Well, they put me in a room ABOVE CONSTRUCTION WORK and all I heard were saws buzzing. I went downstairs to complain and rather than offer me another room, they pretty much told me to deal with it, with an unconcerned apology, blaming it on the construction workers. I know they had vacancies but that would mean upgrading my room. God forbid that! The next morning, I was awakened at 9 am by hammers. Again, I got an unconcerned apology. There was trash under the bed left from the previous rooms guests and the room smelled a little stale. Also, the windows do not open so I couldn't get the nice ocean breeze or the sound of the waves to chill me out. Thank goodness I only booked one night! I will never stay at this hotel again and do not recommend it to anyone.

The great location is about all this hotel has going for itself. It is old, although the outside appears to be renovated. The inside is dark and gloomy. I do not recommend staying here for more than 2 nights--the rooms are extremely small. We had a room with one double bed and you could barely walk in between the bed and TV stand. There is no elevator to the second floor. There are no ice machines/drink machines on the second floor. Housekeeping does not leave enough towels. And oh, the bathroom---has only a shower which has no place to "keep" personal toileteries--my $11.00 bar of Clinique got thrown away!! And watch the temp of water in shower!!! While taking a shower it will switch from scalding hot to bitter cold.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 13 of 16Reasonably Priced Hotel
An older property, the hotel was clean and relatively well maintained. There was a small refrigerator and microwave oven in the room. The room was small but comfortable for one or two people. It suited my purposes -- a single night stay. For a couple making an extended stay, I think the room would be a little too small.

Trip Type: Family Review 15 of 16NOISY...Ask about school groups
This was a nice hotel and in a very good location, but you will want to check in advance to see if public school groups are staying there on field trips. If you want to sleep before midnight or past 6 a.m., this is not the place for you. The school groups were very noisy and not controlled by their chaperones or the hotel staff. We had to ask them (repeatedly) to be quiet and stop running through the hallways. If you like that kind of noise, this is your place. Also, they did not give us a non-smoking room, as requested. I've stayed in many Days Inns and this was my first bad experience.
